World Cup 2026 Thread

There were $5m usd bets placed shortly before the match that wagered Spain would tie cabo verde in the group stage. That was a very improbable outcome.

A Danish watchdog group flagged that and 7 other possible instances of fraud in the world cup.
That's impossible in the case of Spain - Cabo Verde. We have a long history of rigged games, it never ends in a 0 - 0 unless all players on the field are involved which would be batshit crazy conspiracy. Usually it's the goal keeper or the defense players who are paid to let the other team score goals, or the strikers not to score, and it only happens in minor leagues (these days, back in the days (before 2000) it happened in several major leagues of western european countries. On the other hand what can happen in major leagues or tournaments is the referees being ''influenced'', they're the weaker spot on the field moneywise for top tier pro football rigging.
Nowadays corrupt footballers are only in minor leagues or tournaments, always involve mafia money laundering.

Calling it soccer? - impossible, won't happen.
Too late, it's been in the OED since forever. And that's where the game originated.
