As a final post I wanted to say I'll never support Argentina against any opponent ever. This team embodies everything I hate about football.
Look at the class they show after the final whistle. This is a World Cup final.

Argentina's supporters attitude was just as ugly, the only supporters to chant openly racist chants, and I mean not just a few, all of them. Even the Youtuber Speed got his piece of racist insult just for being too close from them.
The only more disgusting thing I saw during this world cup was the Paraguay bench insulting the recently passed out mother of the french team's coach, Deschamps, at his face.
There is definitely something deeply rotten in southern american football.

Fun stat: in the whole world cup history, 7 players got a red card in the final. 4 of them were argentinians. They're getting trashed worldwide at the moment, I hope it's gonna be a wake up call for them.

I like Messi, but yesterday I thought he was searching a bit too desperately for a free kick opportunity right outside the box, and I didn't like what I saw right after the red card situation, where it looked like he wanted the attention from the referee just because Cucurella held his hand a little over his mouth when speaking to him. I very much doubt that the Spanish defender said anything racist or anything bad to him in that moment.

I could be wrong about those things, but I really dislike seeing people I otherwise look up to being prepared to cheat their way to victory. If I won something in any sport by doing similar things like that, the win would have had a bit of a bad taste afterwards.

If I remember it correctly, was it Klose who, in a game, once said to the referee that he shouldn't have the penalty he just had won, or was that someone else? Anyway, that was a class act.

He did stuff like that all along the game in many situations, he spent the whole game trying to pressure the referee. Yesterday to me he lost the very little aura he had left, a small man.

I don't think AR will change, they have always been like that. And winning the last cup and now runner up only reinforces that they "were on the right path"...

Not to do with football, but after the Rugby on Saturday - Argentina vs England - some of the Argentinian players bumped angrily into the referee, with others having to be actively held back from getting to him. The ref himself was reluctant to make a big call in the last minute if the game, and deferred to the video ref on that decision. That is not usual - the ref seeks counsel from the video ref, but the ref on the field makes the final decision. Clearly the ref didn't feel safe, correctly as it turned out. Very nasty stuff.

I think yellow for flopping should be a more common outcome. Heck, wanna use VAR? Give the teams a couple of challenges each they can use and I bet they'd use them to call out diving. Going after that should drop the occurrence I'd think.
