There was one replay angle that showed almost a 90 degree bend, it made me cringe. Anyone know how hes doing?

Believe it's the 5th game against eachother, and Brazil never won against them so..... The same result in 1994 (guess where)....

Wasn't aware of that stat! I had to look it up as it's hard to believe but yep, mostly in friendlies 3 wins 2 draws.

Guess United who got tipped off very early about Haaland never stood a chance to sign him. Not then, and not when City bought him. All thanks to Roy Keane, and his deliberate invalidisation of Alfie Haaland. Never liked players like that, and never will. There's a team from the late 70'ies whose player did similar tackles, the team defended the assault, and I still hope they loose every single game.

For his defense it wasn't intentional at all, it was just a careless mistake, just a dangerous one, I've seen enough injuries in the exact same situation. It's not too much of a scandal if he doesn't get a match suspension to me on the moral sense, but it's unprecedented and the result of direct political pressure, that's a bit crazy.

Believe he has admitted it was intentional, revenge for previous battles, and the Haalands certainly consider i intentional.

Ah sorry was talking about Balogun. Yes the Keane takle story is well known, Alfie Haaland was pretty nasty on a previous game, that was pure revenge.

As a kid I played for a club producing a lot of talent reaching and doing well a.o. in PL. Our local enemy (decades and decades of rivalery - we never talked again to a player who transferred - as kids!) had a player like that, a schoolmate of mine showed me his boots after one of their practices - ripped through the leather by the bugger's studs). Don't really care if it's my team or other teams, I want players like that out. Most of the time they are dirty because they are inferior to who they are up against. Or pure crudeness.
Stops football from being great.

Gazza could be bad, but he had a different attitude. I like players like Zidane and Messi, and underdogs like Morocco was 4 years ago. A great rematch coming up.

Just remembered. The Norwegian goalkeeper - Nyland - was let go by Sevilla back in May. Not sold, let go. His game this one.

The press and people are pretty upset about the red card intervention.
Regardless of results - even getting the cup - the championship has been stained, and it will stick to the team's result forever. Won't be recognized as the true winner. and not forgotten.

Disagree based on world cup history, and I was born in soccer crazy Barcelona and have watched every championship since... 1974?

“The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) is astonished by FIFA’s decision to declare suspended United States player Folarin Balogun eligible to play in the USA–Belgium match on Monday, 6 July at 5:00 p.m. (Seattle time).”
The RBFA notes that FIFA used Article 27 of the disciplinary code to rule Baolgun eligible for the USA-Belgium match, but they say that ruling directly contradicts Article 66.4 of that same code and Article 10.5 of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Competition Regulations.
In addition to citing the technical reasons that it disagrees with the ruling, the RBFA wraps up by saying it strongly disagrees with this decision and is looking into its options to protest it.
“In order to safeguard the legitimate rights of all participating teams and to protect the fundamental principles of fair play in our sport, both at this FIFA World Cup and at future editions of the tournament, the RBFA is investigating all potential options.”
