I did compare the sound of this unit against the “$99 JDS Labs” I had at that time (among others), and the WA7 was simply in another league in sound quality in terms of in refinement, tone, smoothness, details recovery, “air”, etc. JDS sounded like a toy compared to this; using hifiman planars or senheisser 650 cans.
Every person that tried that comparison agreed. In fact, the unit sounded so good that only the headphone stage of a very expensive McIntosh integrared could compete with it.
Besides all that, it is by far the most beautiful audio gear i have tried. Delicious to my ears and eyes.
