J'ai reçu mon dac smsl m300 mk2 et mes premières impressions sont bonnes mais je ne donnerai pas de jugement définitif avant de lui donner 48 heures de rodage. Je le connecte avec sp200 en utilisant la sortie rca. quels sont les avantages de l'utilisation de l'équilibre du câble xlr entre le smsl m300 et le sp200 sachant que j'utilise actuellement la sortie asymétrique pour mon akg k712?

I connect it with sp200 using the rca output. what are the advantages of using the balance of the xlr cable between the smsl m300 and the sp200 knowing that i currently use the unbalanced output for my akg k712?

Balanced XLR can reduce ground hum/noise. If you currently have no problems with RCA, then everything is fine, no worries /
XLR peut réduire le ronflement / le bruit au sol. Si vous n'avez actuellement aucun problème avec RCA, alors tout est déjà très bien, pas de soucis.

thank you for your answer, no i have no noise with the rca output even at high volumes unlike my ifi zen dac that there was a lot of noise .balanced output xlr provided the same output power as the rca?

The XLR input will receive double of RCA's voltage, yes. This will be noticeable.
The output (4-pin XLR) however, has the same volume as the 1/4inch TRS.

RCA to RCA is fine, but you can use XLR to XLR if you want. It will make everything louder too though.

Yes, looks fine. It's only 50cm though so make sure you will get by with a short cable!

Not really that short, I have a pair of XLR cables that at 30cm only. They are for connecting the DAC to the headphone amp.

umm, if it works it works. might not be durable though

If it´s not horrible you may not hear any difference. I don´t think there is any cable stopping ground loops or something like this.
I bought a manually crafted cable from a guy at ebay selling this stuff really cheap.


though it´s as far from cheap it could be

- NEUTRIK XLR
50cm is easily enough for my setup and that was 19€.
Those cable usually sell for at least the double. The plugs are already worth at least 15€. Neutrik is pure reliability.
MEGA fair price if you ask me. But sorry guys....only sells in germany.

no, there is no noise with the usb connection, even with high volume on the amp

Has anyone found a nice coaxial cable available for use with the mk2?
I cant seem to find one in Europe that does 3,5mm -> coaxial.
Or does a regular 3,5mm to rca work as well despite it not being 75 ohm?

Thinking I should've gone with the mk1 instead...
