I looked at the RME review, spectacular, but what might you recommend if analogue inputs (I have an outtboard phono preamp) are needed? Another poster said that the preamp 'matched' the 405-2 for some reason (BTW mine is a 34 not a 33) ...Cheers

I am using MyTek THX AAA Liberty HPA as pre amp … 100% analogue inputs (3 RCAs + 1 XLR) and 1 RCA preamp out … works beautifully with my Quad 909s

Benchmark LA4 could be even better (both use THX AAA 888)

Sansui were also doing feed-forward in the late 70s, early 80s. Denon also had a version of it.

Just replaced my Quad CDP-2 used as DAC (very good DAC) with new SMSL SU-9n DAC and THX AAA HPA isn’t used as preamplifier anymore … as I have got Benchmark LA4 … power amps are Quad 909s
