Wine thread - what are you enjoying?

I will be in London, Paris and Amsterdam for work. Any suggestions for wine and/or liquor stores?

I know of Berry Bros, Milroy's, Cadenheads, Hedonism. Anywhere else worth going (especially places with tasting by the glass).

In London I've always had good luck at Blandford Comptoir. They frequently have something special open for BTG pours. 28-50 is also OK, though the BTG selection may not be on par with Blandford.

In Paris there are so many good options. If you like Northern Rhone the list at Willi's is hard to beat. The ambiance, however, would not be hard to beat. Verjus around the corner has a nice little wine bar downstairs.

If you like Belgian ale, Au Trappiste has a great selection. But don't risk the cuisine...

Interested to see what other suggestions you get.

70% Zin, 20% Petite Syrah, 7% Syrah, 3% Grenache

Enjoying with some lamb rump , new potatoes and green beans.

A little more subtle than straight Cali Zin.

Have a good weekend all - enjoy your wine :)

If you want to try a kaleidoscope of completely different wines, which change completely, starting from the province of Trapani up to the slopes of Etna. Come to Sicily and you will be thrilled, amazed and fascinating. You won't want to leave anymore.

Sounds like a perfect tour :)

all of my sommelier friends are crazy about Mt Etna wines. I liked them better 5yrs ago - when they were half the price.
Cheers

A continuation of my Georgia kick. This Saperavi was fermented in qvevri, a very traditional process. Damn good and quite inexpensive.

Will definitely look out for that locally here in the UK.
I bought six of them, and after I opened this one, I ran back for more. Sadly... they were gone. These are great now, but I'll bet on them being even better in 5-10 years.

Are wine legs running down the inside of the glass a thing? Does it indicate anything like the urban rumor states that it indicates the alcohol level?

Yes - higher alcohol = more viscous legs apparently !

Looks like I'm in luck :)

I found this Cali garage-ista micro-producer : showing nicely tonight w/ jaminess being more bright red(not black) fruits. Fleshiness from perhaps the tiny jolt of syrah and merlot. Electric acids w/that natural wine "zing" & the cool cab franc aromatics.

It's warm outside so it's wine spritzer time for me. Picked up 2 bottles of a nice white wine and soda water and am gulping it down... :D
