From Win-10 to Win-11.Last night I upgraded an "unsupported" i3 NUC with the aforementioned flyobee utility.
Since many new safety/security and robustness features have been implemented/improved in new 25H2. Furthermore, most advanced (in Microsoft Windows) many Windows Updates will be periodically semi-automatically applied to new 25H2 throughout at least coming 2 or 3 years. So you are upgrading from an "unsupported" PC already running Windows 11 24H2 to the same "unsupported" PC running Windows 11 25H2 ... why is it surprising that one Windows 11 version can be upgraded to another Windows 11 version?
Yes, I believe so, since the procedure shared in my post #1 uses .iso DVD image of the whole Windows 11 25H2, even though I myself upgraded from Windows 11 Pro 24H2 to 25H2.I have several Windows 10 22H2 "unsupported for Windows 11" computers. Can they be upgraded to Windows 11 by this method?
Everyone who has Microsoft Account can join the "Windows Insider Member Program and Preview Downloads".The "Insider Preview" 25H2 is only available to Windows Insiders. How does one become an Windows Insider?
I do the same with our phones & tablets. They all run LineageOS, the open source version of Android. No manufacturer or carrier bloat-ware or spy-ware, better battery life and performance. And no planned obsolescence. My devices are 5+ years old running the latest version of Android with weekly updates years after the manufacturers abandoned them.
I do wish LineageOS were as easy to install on phones as Linux is to install on laptops & desktops. This would make it more accessible and popular. But phones & tablets have locked bootloader & recovery software that some manufacturers try to make as difficult as possible to unlock. One can get around this but it's not for the faint of heart.
Thanks for all the useful information on installing Windows 11 on unsupported hardware! For older and/or less capable computer systems I recommend Q4OS - a Linux distro with very low computer resource requirements. It is a lightened version of Debian Linux which will run swiftly on minimal hardware yet still retain most of Debian's functionality. I also found (after over 40 installs on a variety of older desktops and laptops) that Q4OS has run impressively well on all of them without the compatibility and performance issues I experienced with some other light Linux distros. After testing dozens of light Linux distributions, Q4OS is certainly my go to OS for any older and / or less performant computer system.
