A few weeks ago, I "upgraded" all my Windows computers to Windows 11. Now I can't go back and check how the audio part in Win10 was set up.

Seems with my work computer, Windows 11 defaulted to enable "Dolby Atmos for Headphones", and I typically listen to music on headphones when I work, especially in the office (Shure SRH1540 powered by a venerable Arcam rPAC). In the home office it'd be JDS Element 3 and Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro.

Believe it or not, it was only today that I really paid attention and noticed the fact that Dolby Atmos was enabled. So I went back and forth turning it off and enabling it again. I must say, the Atmos mode indeed instills the content with more "volume", a bit of extra space. When I turn it off, things sound a bit more closed. But I also think Atmos mode boost some stuff, because it definitely sounds slightly louder, overall.

Any opinions out there from others on ASR? Pro or Con opinions?

Atmos on cans just does not work for me. I suspect HRTF issues and my big head ;) But some people like it... I am yet to be convinced it has any musical utility vs. fillums, which are different...

Same for me, both Atmos for Headphones and DTS:X barely even hit any HRTF cues for me at all. The only thing so far that worked for me is a direct impulse response from my ears
