Wiim withdraw Apple Airplay casting from all their products

It may be a little late (I just saw this thread), but in the attachment in the first post it states that you can contact WiiM to add your device to a whitelist to retain the feature. If your WiiM already has been updated, though, you may be out of luck.
I went through the whitelist process (they asked for the MAC ID that can be found in device info) and airplay casting is actually back on. I’m not sure what their workaround is but mine is now working.

I submitted a support ticket, which is pending. Hopefully they can restore this functionality for me.

Indeed moderators also active in this forum keep deleting posts from WIIM forum on this subject
What are you on about? We have not deleted a single post in this thread. Be careful of the claims you make around here.

Adam, I suspect he means deleting them at the WiiM forums, and it’s just clumsy wording.

Apologies if I’ve misunderstood.
While that remains a possibility he needs to be more precise about who he is accusing. Secondly we really don’t want other forum drama brought here. So I had two reasons to react negatively to his post. Maybe he will get the message. ;)

Given the use cases mentioned, I’m not sure why people don’t just use Bluetooth.
I loathe entirely the way Bluetooth allows the transmitting device to function as a preamp with volume control. Can’t possibly count the number of times the volume in my car was cranked up to 11 because my wife doesn’t even consider the relationship between the radio and her phone. It’s just another setting that has the potential to go wrong.

I don’t use it, apart from headphones, where it’s far better to control volume at source.

For me, I view the WiiM streamers as bit-perfect streamers which are transparent the source (apart from the Mini).

The idea of ‘casting it into a soundbar…just buy a Mini and attach it to the soundbar.

99% of when I’ve seen people using it to cast, I’m not sure lossless audio is necessarily going to be a huge impact.

Indeed WIIM will whitelist your device. It would have been great to know in advance but thank you @WiiM Support @WiiM Team My Airplay is again working post firmware update
So based on this latest firmware update the problem has been satisfactory resolved.

We can close this thread on a happy note. :)

Unlocked as members have reported issues again.

With Airplay casting? I would have said that’s pretty much a closed book.

I guess it depends on what you mean as a closed book. I requested to have my Wiim Pro whitelisted and they wouldn't do it. Based on conservations elsewhere, it seems like they have completely backpedaled on the whitelisting and are giving refunds instead.

I hope that they refund me as AirPlay casting was the only reason I purchased the Wiim Pro.

Might airplay be taken away in future updates from the the mini and the pro products?

Potentially. That's about all you can say for any feature that relies on 3rd party licensed components for functionality where products receive ongoing firmware updates.

LDAC on BT stays winning.

The encoder is open. The decoder is closed so Sony could potentially pull it from one or more manufacturers.

Sony has done dumb stuff in the past but I doubt they would be that stupid to piss off Qualcomm who makes the actual chips.

My experience also. Whitelisted at first, then last week an update was pushed to my WiiM amp (I was at pains not to update myself) that removed airplay, then they refused to re-whitelist when contacted claiming that firmware has now been ‘deleted’. Would have been more than happy to not be bothered with ongoing updates as evetything was working just fine. Not so now- thanks WiiM for hobbling your own product.
