Thanks for all the discussion, guys. I only mentioned the 8 ohm wpc (50) elsewhere, but no matter. I assumed it was close to 100w at 4 ohms. Speakers are KEF Q Concerto Meta.

Vibelink issues / things you should consider before buying:
1. it makes a slight pop sound in the speakers when turned on/off/standby (common among TPA based amps. amp manufacturers who cares about this issue found a solution for this )
2. goes on sale several times a year on Amazon US (20% off = 240 USD)
3. bluetooth connectivity to the app is not the best - after sometime it stop appearing in the app (unplugging from power solves this)
4. i read on WiiM forums on situations where it turns on and there's no sound in the speakers. I experienced this issue myself, it doesn't happen much though (switching sources when it happens solves this)
5. when it goes into "deep sleep"(after 1 hour) and you don't have a remote cable connected, the only way to turn it back on is using the app / power button on its back
all of the above are from my personal experience, of using the Vibelink for over 5 months

Mine has never made any audible pops

Since you can’t really do anything with it via the app it disappearing doesn’t really effect any functionality

I use it with an Ultra that has a trigger output so I’ve never encountered the deep sleep issue in my setup.

1 Nothing here, a little with my amp pro

Now to the power, there is a difference but more to the sound

Improved bass and a smoother less digital sound when playing loud

just means your speakers aren't as sensitive as mine

people who don't have the option for a remote cable would disagree here , as that means to turn the amp back on (after an hour of inactivity) is by either using the power button on its back, or using the app . kind of annoying when it suddenly disappears from the app device list in this scenario

For me, it’s starting to narrow between this or a Buckeye NC252MP (I’m in the US). My irrationality wants a higher end Hypex or Purifi so I can be covered for any future needs but I just don’t think the extra power makes sense.

how much power do we need when you have lets say 6 db more sensitive speakers than i have (around 91db, mine is 8 ohm minimum is 4 ohm)

Around 60/120 watt is enought if the amp can play it clean, i limit my old amp to 85% thats around 50 and 100 watt (old amp, wiim amp pro)

6 db more (91 sensitive speakers) is 200 and 400 watt with my speakers, how much power can your insensitive speaker handle before they distort or compression, distortion from the speakers (not the amp), is to high ?

Bookshelf speakers mabye 100 watt or 200 watt for big floorstand speakers, even 200 watt seems alot for something like a pair of dali oberon 7 or the smallest ma bronze 300 7g (which is an exception since even the smaller bookshelf bronze 7g is loud, can handle power)

How much power does a wiim amp ultra, vibelink have ? 100 and 200 watt !

Most speakers goes under 8 ohm and many down to 4 ohm, if you have big jbl L100 or dali oberon 9, kefq11 or r7 meta you might be able to afford a 2x200 watt in 8 ohm or a 2x400 watt in 4 ohm amp

On a low budget IOM 500 stereo (NCx500) up to 700 watt aorund €1000, more affordable IOM Ultra €510 in a 250 watt in 4 ohm version https://internetofmusic.nl/product/iom-ultra/ Wiim vibelink under 400 euros is 100/200 watt

If you have speakers that are 6dB more sensitive than you can use an amp with 6dB less power
:)

Which means an amp with 1/4 the power. Or in the more likely case when you are keeping your existing amp, it is equivalent to having an amp with 4x the power.

Hi guys..
I have a Wiim Ultra Streamer and using a Class AB DIY amplifier with it.
Aside from the ground loop problem (you can hear it when you put your ear right up to the speaker) and its large chassis (WAF), it's a pretty good combination.
Do you think I should simplify the system by getting a Vibelink (connecting it to the Wiim Ultra)? Also, can I overcome the ground loop problem by using SPDIF output/input? On the other hand, as far as I understand, this device doesn't have remote volume control. In that case, for example, if I connect my old CDP and/or turntable directly to the Vibelink, will I have to control the volume on the device itself?

@ozgur the spdif input might solve your ground loop issue. but, no remote control of the volume. you're probably better off connecting your CDP to the Ultra, and control everything from one place & gain its EQ/Room Correction features

The problem is, my TV is alreday connected to Wiim Ultra via optical input (because HDMI ARC is very noisy with my TV), may be I can use a simple optical splitter however my turntable is still problematic in this case..

my SMSL PL150 CD player is connected as a transport using its optical output to the HDMI ARC input of the Ultra using s cheap adapter from Sonos - https://www.sonos.com/en/shop/optical-audio-adapter . works perfectly, the app shows it as "device disconnected" but everything else works fine.
and the turntable - there's the phono input on the Ultra or the analog RCA input if you're using a preamp

Thats a good advice (the sonos).. Thanks a lot.
