Same. I used mine with a 3.5mm model and it gave me very different results. With the mic it was a lot more pleasant for me after EQ.

Good evening, sorry for the question I'm going to ask is very basic, but until now I haven't been able to understand how the HDMI Arc port works on the Ultra, today I saw a video (darko) he connected the Ultra to the TV and accessed Tidal through the TV changing the songs etc. I tried here but without success, what would be the correct connections to make it work. I have a Samsung Art TV. It has several HDMI inputs and an Arc. This ARC is connected to a Harman C700 sound. Would it be possible to connect the Ultra together? Thank you

Yes.
The Ultra's HDMI port does not do output so it couldn't be displaying anything on the TV. I haven't watched Darko's video yet, but he was either using a Tidal app on the TV or casting to it from a tablet and then outputting through the Wiim.
I believe you're right... he should be using Tidal (TV app) and sending a signal to the WiiM to play. Now what's the real advantage of this? Is the audio quality the same? What's the point in the end? Just to watch on the big screen?
Probably just showing it to look impressive. Or maybe it is a really big room and the Wiim's screen is too hard to see.

He lost all kinds of cred with me on that one. He calls the screen OVERRATED.one bought by the industry.... this video of his about the WiiM Ultra is ridiculous... watch it to believe it. The phrase in the video is that he is a champion... but if you watch it he goes on saying things, not denigrating but saying that there is this or that that is better... as we say in Brazil: he is a real 'BABACA'. If I recall, he’s either using Apple TV apps in which case he’s limited to 24/48 (which some might well be happy with) or using Roon’s feature (maybe thru Roon remote, I’m not sure as I don’t use Roon) to Chromecast the now playing screen to a display. In fact, that type of feature has been asked for on the WiiM forum too.

I'm not sure what you mean by HT bypass mode.
If I put everything in auto mode from my desktop it will auto switch back and forth with tidal connect being played or stopped.
I was surprised by that, and it's kind of nice although it would be inconvenient to do that in the middle of a work meeting. Still it can do some switching between inputs automatically like a good pre-amp.
As far as being a true HT preamp, if that's what you are asking, I think it would be pretty terrible since it has no awareness of any other than stereoh Channels. But if you were doing 2.1 it would be fine I would think.

Guys, can you help me sort this decision out? I am looking for something which can act as pre-amp (phono, arc) for my Neumann KH120ii. Would you go wiim ultra or something like the marantz stereo 70? As I will be using the amps in the speaker, how much of a difference can there be between different pre-amps, if any?

I hooked up my new Ultra to an SMSL AO300 ($250) driving Philharmonic Audio Ceramic minis ($850) and used bass management with an SVS 3000 micro ($625 - in white @amirm ).
I was surprised at how well it was all blended at 80hz crossover at normal near field desktop levels. I'm shocked at the quality audio I'm getting for the price of this system.
I'm still working with bass management. The volume does go up together, but at high speaker volume, the SVS 3000 micro is much less discernable, and I have to adjust the subwoofer up. I don't listen at that volume so maybe not a big deal.
The bigger issue is that my desktop PCM source seems to be exaggerating the bass severely. I guess I have to eq that?

The Marantz is equipped with Heos which is a mediocre application limited in number of streaming platforms (not quobuz for example) and it would be surprising if its electronic performances were up to that of the Wiim ultra not to mention that it is more expensive and that it embeds two power amplifiers which you do not need and which does not offer the possibilities of parametric corrections permitted by the Wiim Ultra which benefits from an excellent application updated regularly and which is supported by a team at listening to its customers. Marantz-Denon are completely deaf to the requests of their customers, such as including Qobuz...

That Marantz is stereo (2.0) with an amp.
The Wiim is 2.1 without an amp, but cheaper by enough you can still buy a power amp like the smsl AO300 that I use. And you get the extra Wiim features the Marantz doesn't have.
In this thread, Wiim Ultra wins that battle every time.

Sounds like an easy decision now. Phone stage will probably also not make that big of a difference. The WiiM is about 240€ cheaper than the Marantz for me.
