You need to take in the difference in exchange rates and perhaps import duty but more importantly VAT. In the USA I believe prices are quoted exclusive of local sales tax as that can vary state from state, whereas in the UK/EU prices generally (and by law in the U.K.) are displayed inclusive of VAT. The EU seem to have roughly an 8% uplift on the equivalent U.K. price after that which I can only guess is some additional tariff imposed by the EU. The pricing really shouldn’t come as a surprise if you compare previous models and say, Amazon devices which are similarly priced.Preorder at Audiophonics, 389 euro :-(
Rather have balanced outs on the Wiim itself.

Higher output voltage, balanced output without custom cables. If the Ultra's DAC is so good then why use an external DAC at all?
I need someone to sell these custom cables for the WiiM Ultra. I do not want to use an additional DAC. The Ultra's purpose is to get rid off all the different boxes we have.Higher output voltage, balanced output without custom cables.
Couldn't you just use standard RCA-XLR cables and build/purchase the custom cables if you have issues with ground loops?I need someone to sell these custom cables for the WiiM Ultra. I do not want to use an additional DAC. The Ultra's purpose is to get rid off all the different boxes we have.
That is what I will do. I already have the RCA-XLR cable to connect the Ultra to my Ncore NC252MP.Couldn't you just use standard RCA-XLR cables and build/purchase the custom cables if you have issues with ground loops?
Well you have to buy a dac.

"If you have a DAC with balanced outs (and I'm going to guess most people eager for the Ultra to have balanced outs will already have such a DAC*), then you can take the digital out from the Ultra into that DAC, then used the balanced outs on the DAC to feed your amp.
Now we knew that already. But WiiM have confirmed that you can do this, using the external DAC for the main L&R speakers, whilst maintaining use of the Ultra's bass management and subwoofer output.
* If you don't have such a DAC, you can pick one up for c.£120. I know this isn't perfect, but it's a reasonable work around. Even then, you're only paying £450, which many people would think was a great price for the Ultra anyway.
If the Ultra's DAC is so good then why use an external DAC at all?
Where’s that from? Not seen that on any WiiM documentation
Supported Bluetooth codecs SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX LL, aptX HD, LDAC
True? Could be good news
That's why I have doubts. It's from Audiophonics webpage but I can't find it anywhere elseWhere’s that from? Not seen that on any WiiM documentation
They have a record of doing this - didn’t they do similar with the Amp or Pro Plus claiming it could do something it couldn’t? Pretty irresponsible imhoThat's why I have doubts. It's from Audiophonics webpage but I can't find it anywhere else
They said the line inputs on the Wiim Amp could be used as outputs to connect a separate power amp, IIRC.They have a record of doing this - didn’t they do similar with the Amp or Pro Plus claiming it could do something it couldn’t? Pretty irresponsible imho
You guys realize these requests on ASR's "Wiim Ultra" forum for Balanced outputs is helping Wiim condition the market/"set-the-stage" (and ASR is a BIG driver of the market Wiim relies on!) for the "Ultra Plus" (or Ultra Pro?) with XLR outs (along with a higher grade DAC chip and a larger touchscreen) which should be ready for introduction on Wiim's site (and then the inevitable speculation threads/posts on ASR) by late '24...Rather have balanced outs on the Wiim itself.
