Wiim Ultra and Sonos Optical Audio Adapter

I bought a Wiim Ultra, but I was frustrated by the number of digital inputs. I discovered that the Sonos Optical Adapter worked to use the HDMI input as an additional optical audio input. I really didn’t expect it to work, but it does. I tested it with a Cambridge Audio CXC CD transport and a Parks Audio Waxwing.

That looks like a good idea, but I already had a Sonos optical audio adapter sitting in a drawer.
