I don't believe I've ever used a GRS driver, but I have used a lot of drivers. The last sub I built was a sealed box Dayton MX10 in 0.75ft^3 with the Dayton 300D-6 plate amp, stuffed and boost on.
Before that was the Overdrive10/Kilauea with the UM10-22. This O10/K has been remodeled for the UMII, and has been built by another forum member over there.

Should well outperform Wiim Sub Pro in the "bottom most" position

say from 60Hz and below - correct? Especially with a powerful amp and a bit of DSP bass boost?

But the Wiim Sub Pro will cover from that LPF up to 200Hz - better as mid bass coupler?

Stereo, co-located of course.
 
I suppose you could pair them that way with small satellites, but then you would have to have both subs front and center due to higher bandwidth.
The beauty of the bandpass at 60Hz (steep) and below, is that most stand mounts and smaller floor standers are starting to roll off by 60Hz, or are no longer pressurizing the room by that point. It just gets out of the way and does what it does.
 
I need bass reinforcement right up near 200Hz, stereo co-located ofc

but the separate units LPF'd below 70-80Hz - aka trueSubs - I plan to also test summed mono, and those I think could be freely placed, to better tackle room resonance issues.
 
After watching Erin's video, this sub is amazing with a Wiim Ultra in an apartment. I have four Wiim devices and the beauty of this is if you have a desktop system next to your living room system the sub can be used for both. (My apartment living room and office are combined). I have my Kef LS50 Wireless II in my living room hooked up to my wiim ultra and my Ascend Acoustic Luna's v2 in my office area. The room eq and auto adjusting on the Wiim devices for me has been pretty good. Push a button and forget it, with Wiim streaming built in makes this a great buy for me.
 
that's a lot of bang for the buck.

Hi, curious to know how you have this set up. My home office has my desk at one side with a Wiim amp, and on the other side of the room i have a home cinema setup with a Wiim Ultra as preamp. Do you have the sub wired to one device and wirelessly to the other, or can both Wiim devices connect to the sub through the app?

I just got the sub yesterday. You can't pair the sub to two Wiim devices separately with it's own differential curve at the same time you need to unpair and pair everytime. That would be cool if you could though.

But there's a few ways to do it. I have the Wiim Ultra in my living room and a Wiim Pro at my office/studio. You simply put them in the same group in the Wiim app and turn off the speaker (turn off your amp) you're not using. The sub will play as it's in the same group. I have Kef Wireless 2 in my living area and Ascend Acoustics Luna 2 on a switcher. If in my office I just don't turn on my Wireless 2 but make sure to turn off "automatically on" where the speakers doesn't turn on if receiving an optical signal. If in my living area I just press the little switcher button and no power goes to my Luna 2. Option 2 you can unpair then repair in the app and get your individual curves but seems a bit clucky that way. You do get individual curve room correction though.

Just fyi placement of the sub is going to matter so really it's not that ideal unless you do a lot of moving but it becomes less of an ordeal if your sub plays at a lower frequencies and localization starts to disappear. This is if your speakers can handle that at the crossover point, but there's more to that below. I have my sub positioned between my two Kefs behind the TV on its side with ports going left and right. Thus the sub is somewhat directly behind me when playing my office speakers and in front playing my Kefs.

You're going to want the cut off frequency on the speaker that can't go down as much if you use option 1 since if you choose option 1 it's in a group and crossover is set to your main speakers but you're trying to match your office speakers natural low frequency curve. Regardless it should still make a noticeable improvement since most desktop office speakers are small and their low frequency response is pretty bad.
 
I just ordered one tonight and should have it by Monday evening NZST. I'll post my observations and impressions regarding its functionality once I've spent a day or two with it.

I expect the integration to be seamless, as it'll be paired with a WiiM Amp Ultr a.
 
Just a quick bug report:

When streaming via Lyrion to my Amp Ultra, which is now paired with the Sub Pro, the sub doesn't play when using SlimProto or Google Cast. However, if I stream to my system via UPnP-DLNA, it plays just fine.

I was aware of the issue prior to buying the Sub Pro, which I just purchased today, as I'd been following a few threads on WiiM's forum. I'm fine with UPnP-DLNA at the moment, but my preference is SlimProto.

A ticket as been submitted to WiiM, although they were already aware of it from what I can tell. I suspect a near future firmware update will fix it.
 
Is this the case no matter what the source model is (Ultra also affected)?

and no matter how the Sub Pro is connected (SE RCA output, vs wired Ethernet vs WiFi ?)

The Amp Ultra isn't affected since both my speakers connected to it produce sound—just the Sub Pro— regardless of whether the source material comes from my Lyrion server locally or remotely, such as a subscription service or internet radio.

I'm streaming to the Amp Ultra via Wi-Fi and the Sub Pro is paired to it wirelessly.

Please don't ask me to check whether an RCA or Ethernet connection would resolve the issue, because I won't. I can live with UPnP-DLNA for the moment, but once the issue is resolved, I'll go back to SlimProto.

While Lyrion and SlimProto will have to wait for now, Google Cast now works with the Sub Pro. I installed the Amp Ultra firmware a few minutes ago, and Google Cast works as promised.

I just want to add that by going first-party with the Amp Ultra and Sub Pro, I bypassed all of the issues traditional subwoofer installation can present. In fact, by going with the first-party, I didn't even need to run calibration to determine the level and timing. The Amp Ultra and Sub Pro communicate with each other wirelessly, setting those values as needed.
 
I wish the same were true using them as stereo subs.

Using Wiim Ultra (not Amp) enables concurrent output on Analog and one S/PDIF pair, but the crossovers and phase / delay tuning require third party DSP

There's been some talk on WiiM's forum regarding dual sub support, but I don't know if anything will come to fruition.

The only thing I had to tune on mine was flipping the phase to 180°.
