WiiM Pro - Review & Measurements (Streamer)

I'm using the same cable for my 8351s. What it seamed like a ground loop at first, it got fixed when I set the autosync option (14ms in my case). That fixed it.
For some reason wiim pro with my speakers can't play 24/192, only 24/96.
Couple of questions:
1. Does wiim pro upscales everything to the max resolution, or just passes bit perfect lower res signal, e.g. from Spotify?
2. Is there a way to force the Wiim to lock the digital signal to the Genelecs?

thanks,
Misho

There are settings in the WIIM Home app to set max output resolution for SPDIF and Coax. However it won't upscale to that resolution if the incoming file is lower. I think you would have to use the onboard DAC to ensure it's all consistent.

The Genelecs have onboard DAC? You could get a standalone DAC to connect to the WIIM and feed the Genelecs.

Thanks for a very good review !
Good that the digital volume output from spdif is very good ! Seems to be true 24 bit.
This unit seems to be a bargain if used as a digital hub to an external dac , or to use with SAM monitors from Genelec.:)

This review should be promoted to homepage by Amirm.
How would you connect those SAM monitors directly to this device in the most effective / hassle free / cable free / adapter free way possible? :)

With a 3 meter RCA - xlr cable to digital input of right SAM monitor, then daisy chain digital out to digital in XLR-XLR cable from that monitor to the left speaker , then to the subwoofer. I would use GLM only at the setup , and attenuate the GLM volume slider to - 25 dB and save this to the speakers. Then I would disconnect the GLM kit.

Then I can use the WiiM digital volumecontrol from spdif output to control the volume of the SAM monitors.

I have never experienced any faults with a RCA - xlr cable from a spdif source to the SAM speakers,- without impedance adapter. Im using a computer with DDC spdif output or a Yamaha wxc50 with digital output.

Thanks, I'm thinking of buying at least one of these...and in my living room I will be passing it through some RME gear anyway, but I'm thinking about the least amount of devices to potentially use for the bedroom.
This makes sense, I'll give it some thought...and do some tests with the initial unit I buy.

As Tangband said Wiim->coax (RCA)->XLR->Genelec. Make sure you get a digital cable, thomann sells one. For short distances works just fine.

Something like this should work if I understand things properly?

The WiiM Pro+ (ASR003) has made it through FCC approval process.

Now listed on Amazon in the US. I would like to see Amir get his hands on one, as it looks to tick every box and is amazing value for money. Looking at measurements posted in Wiim forum, it looks very promising.

WiiM Pro Plus AirPlay 2 Receiver -Multiroom Streamer with Premium AKM DAC, Chromecast Audio, Works with Alexa/Siri/Google Assistant, Stream Hi-Res Audio from Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal and More https://a.co/d/6tWzxv0
It's not available yet, mind.

but amirm will not be able to come up with hardly different measures.. and they are particularly exhaustive...
and onlyoneme continues to enrich them...
(only the slightly secondary adc part is missing which should be soon)

you have more than enough... ;-)

""a la mode asr""..this is in the "110-115db" family...
hihi
;-))))

Amir has more exposure.
I have more than enough (info), yes, but I don't need one as I have a Wiim Pro and an external DAC already, but for those who may not it looks like a fantastic product and I would like to see it get some exposure.
Also, now the Pro and plus are Roon ready I'm sure Amir will be raving about them. Even better if they can get the PEQ update done before the Pro plus released.

"asr way" the recent dacs special asr" in this kind of "values" it seems to me to be in the 80-150 euro... ...
so what is this dythiramb?

but the all in one correct is for once welcome....

but... if we start from the idea that all these dacs "over 100" etc are all fantastic.. all sound the same.. etc etc

Amir has a wider audience, that is what I meant.

it's not me... that's what we can read on this site of a certain number of recent modest dacs... measurements etc..
I didn't understand your post, I have no idea what you mean.
