First, I appreciate all of the insight I've seen on this website over the past few weeks. In that light...

Dumb question, I thought I saw the Wiim Pro Plus for sale but maybe not. When I click on "buy" links within other website reviews, it takes me to the Wiim Pro. I've attached a photo from Amazon and have verified the release date to be in October 2022 as well. Am I taking crazy pills? Can the Pro Plus be purchased in the US?

Welcome to ASR. The Pro Plus is a new release, maybe they are out of stock temporarily.

They must've pulled the Pro Plus version from Amazon sometime in the last few days, most likely because measurements by @VintageFlanker and @onlyoneme exposed a flaw with the first batch of production units, which WiiM fixed for the 2nd batch.

They probably don't want to deal with a bunch of returns as customers try to exchange their bad 1st batch units.

The Pro+ is on the Wiim website. The LinkPlay website is not often very up to date. They do not seem to be for sale anywhere, either for the measurement mod or because they just ran out.

There’s nothing “bad” about the 1st batch. The measurements you talk about didn’t result in any audible difference and WiiM laudably said that it was something they would address in the second production batch.

WiiM have confirmed that “we have more inventory coming in for the Amazon US listing. Because the stock is in transport and not readily available to order, Amazon pulled the direct listing for WiiM Pro Plus down. As soon as the stock is in route and they've counted the stock, they'll allow for pre-order and give an estimated ship date.”

No, the WiiM has no ability to provide the EQ provided by a phono preamp

Your phono preamp can be connected to the line input of the WiiM Pro Plus

Perhaps for future releases it would be useful to submit prototypes to third party "testers" before actual production.
I'm sorry, but the whole thing, audible or not, leaves a taste of half baked, let's hurry to sell product situation.

Going by that maxim, out of the 1326 devices tested to date by Amir on ASR, only 573 have been recommended - does that mean the others with less than perfect measured performance were also half baked, let’s hurry to sell products as well?

My oppinion was not meant to be extrapolated nor I consider necessary to elaborate any further.
If you regard it as faulty please feel free to ignore it.

I don’t think so. I think it requires DLNA.

I'm investigating for a friend. It might be OK to use DLNA, but to me not supporting SMB shares is a major omission.
