I've jumped the prime day bandwagon and got myself a wiim pro plus mainly because I was curious to test out the room correction feature (I'm already the owner of a wiim mini who does not support it)
But first I decided to compare the dacs:
My Setup is the following:
Source 1: Tidal > Wiim mini > optical out > topping e30ii > rega brio > ELAC Debut Reference DBR62
Source 2: Tidal > Wiim Pro Plus > rega brio > ELAC Debut Reference DBR62
On the wiim app, both devices have fixed output with the same volume settings and I've linked both devices so so both wiims are essencially playing the same track from the same source at the same time.
By just changing the source on the rega brio during play, and I can hear better transients and more punchy sound comming from the mini + topping. The difference is very noticeable making the wiim pro plus more dull in comparison.
I was not expecting this. Does not make sense to me to keep the pro plus for the room correction alone, since I can copy the same settings and apply them on the mini EQ anyway, so I think I will return the wiim pro plus
Is anything else that may be contributing to these results?
