Thanks, read some reviews on Amazon, quite a number of these fail after short while :(

also, does it need to be power supplied? I would really hate to add even more devices that can fail...
Have had no problem with this .

I use this one, 6 months now:

looks well made but 70 euro on Amazon in EU... I might be better off getting a DAC, so I then also have the DAC besides the conversion :D

(btw, wow, much cheaper on Conectica (14 euro!)

thanks, I don't doubt it, they probably work well in most cases, I'm slightly concerned with these, as there are a lot of them on Amazon, they all look more or less the same (and probably are, just with different sub-brands), but they all have quite a number of scary stories about failures.
Probably still a good choice to start with, together with the Pro Plus, then if becomes an urge, I may get a DAC anyway :)

It's $19. And returnable. With overwhelmingly positive reviews. $19.

you forget I'm in EU, so the one you mention is not a valid option (it would cost me far more in delivery, and import tax than the item itself...).
I think I've spotted a similar item here, negative reviews are 8% (does not work, broke down shortly afterwards, etc.) so failure risk is there.
As mentioned, since cost is low, I can nonetheless give it a go with the WiiM Pro Plus, then decide in case I want to add a DAC, which may give me additional uses and connectivity. Thanks.

Would there be any degradation in running the line out voltage to 0.5vrms? Connecting it to my preamp and I don't get good attenuation on it unless I run 0.5vrms

If you can't hear any additional hiss, none.

Debating between getting another Wiim Pro Plus for main system or go for Ultra but will lose Airplay which works great for Apple Music. Will be connected to receiver via coax input.

Ultra has HDMI in and Subwoofer management ... if you don't need those and you are not using the WiiM's DAC (or ADC/line in) then you are just as well with the more basic WiiM Pro. Nice problem to have

In main system I have Apple TV connected to Integra DRX 3.4 via HDMI therefore wondering if losing Airplay with Ultra may not be as big of an issue. I can use Apple Music app from Apple TV. May end up using Ultra as a separate digital preamp for small bedroom system later. Any thoughts?

In case it’s helpful to anyone: I was torn between the Ultra and the Pro Plus because I like having album art displayed but my wife likes AirPlay. I solved this with an ancient iPad that is nearly useless but runs the Wiim app very stably. It’s on a little easel on an end table and shows whatever is playing on the Pro Plus 24/7, with a display size that is of course much more visible than that of the Ultra. I think it’s a pretty elegant setup solution.

I did this for a long time, but now that there’s a WiiM tvOS app, if I want to see album art I put it on the TV.

I just bought a KEF T2 Subwoofer to run with a Sonos Connect:Amp (14 yrs old!) I was counting on a the Sonos' ability to change the subwoofer volume because the KEF has fixed gain- no adjustable knob. But I learned after connecting the KEF that the Sonos Amp only allows subwoofer volume adjustments with the Sonos Subwoofers, not with third party subwoofers. My frustration level is Sonos has gotten to the point that I think I'm ready to replace the Amps. I'm looking for advice on using the WiiM Pro Amp vs. using a WiiM Pro Plus with another brand of amp. The WiiM Pro Amp seems like a nice package but perhaps there are power amps that are substantially better than the WiiM Pro Amp for $600-ish per zone or less? In most rooms, I am driving a pair of B+W 8-inch ceiling speakers.

The WiiM Pro Plus with another brand of amp does not support Subwoofer integration since there's only two DAC channels.

The WiiM Amp Pro OTOH has three DAC channels with a myriad of sub integration features.

Ah OK, I see the Ultra has a sub out connector. So same question there, would an Ultra + a non WiiM power amp perform better in a similar cost per channel than a WiiM amp pro?

In Germany, the Ultra costs 330€ and the Amp Pro 400€.

I'm not aware of an external Amp that can match the Amp Pro's for 70€.

Not until you need/want more power.

The WiiM Amp Pro seems like a great value for sure at $379 for the streamer, dac and app all in one box with the sub-out, the EQ and the whole kitchen sink.

In a Genelec system, using AES digital from a Wiim spidif port, there is no difference between the pro and proplus because it remains digital. Correct? But if I used analog, the pro plus would be (somewhat) advantageous in performance?
