I remember Topping telling us at these very forums that adding PEQ to a DAC would be difficult and had a limited market.

Who’d have thought it, Topping behind the curve and playing catch up.

As far as we’re concerned, competition is a great thing.

10 bands peq for each channel is coming soon

My only want with the Pro Plus is balanced out which is why i may need to buy another dac again for use with Studio Monitors but I am able to adjust for consumer products on my monitors to -10dbv so I can use unbalanced RCA with a jack adapter but if Wiim really put thier heads together then a Wiim Pro Plus with TRS balanced out would be the way to go.

Hi - should have been clearer about my use case for HPF and LPF -- not related to the bass mgmt./xover/sub out capabilities of the Ultra -- rather a "global" PEQ HPF/LPF for headphone use (or full range speaker use) using the main L/R analog outputs to my headphone amp & phones...

Now - about the bass mgmt HPF/LPF xover function -- it'll still be limited to 12db slopes I assume?
You can open a ticket to WiiM asking for it, who knows, maybe they add it to future releases?

I maintain, there’ll certainly be some eating balanced outs, but the vast majority of the will already have a DAC with balanced outs much they could feed from the WiiM’s digital out.

Anyone seen any measurements regarding the quality of the PEQ implementation ? Noise other artifacts ?

compared to for example mini DSP or other solutions ?

I have the WiiM and desktop PC wired to the same network.
On the desktop PC, using the Tidal app, the WiiM shows up under Tidal Connect.
When I select WiiM under Tidal Connect, I just get a circle that won't engage.
Just got the WiiM and this is the 1st time I've used it.

So no vlans? Is mDNS and possibly other multicast/discovery protocols enabled on your router? Firewall rules?

I don't believe that balanced will ever happen in their price range. I wish everything had balanced.

Love the Wiims.

We need a roon-ready RME. I wonder if you could hack a ROPIEE or DietPi system to send volume control to the RME thru the USB port.

Wondering provokes a forum search, and hmmm

Anybody try it?

A $25 Broadlink RM4 mini will send infrared signals from something like Home Assistant to the RME to control volume.. I use the broadlink to automate switching on the ET30 Neohipo that Amir made me buy.

I also use Home Assistant to implement multizone volume changes in Roon.

The creator of the software, @DrCWO, has a thread on DSP volume, I'm just noticing.

I use a sofabaton app /remote for the same thing as the broadlink, but I probably should have used the Broadlink.

You can choose High Pass or Low Pass functionality by tipping on the button where PK (or just off) is the standard setting. At least it works perfectly with the WiiM Pro Plus. You can choose HP or LP for any filter! It’s quite cool!
Hi - I think you may be confusing the "HS" and "LS" functions (High Shelf and Low Shelf) for HPF and LPF filters -- my Pro Plus with the 10 Band PEQ update only offers "PK" (Peak), "HS/LS" (High/Low Shelf) and "OFF" functions -- High/Low Shelf are not the same as a true High/Low Pass filter, but for Wiim's PEQ suite -- it looks like the High/Low Shelf filter is the only way to "approximately" emulate a HPF or LPF.

Ah, yes. Found it out yesterday, as I compared it with roon filters.
I use the WiiM with chromecast for watching YouTube and roon for „music only“.
I have A question: in roon I can choose also individual level correction. As an example: if I add two dB in the higher frequencies, I can lower the total level by 3 or 4 dB or so and have no problems with overload.
Is this function done in WiiM automatically?

As a data point of the possible, a Topping D10S (unbalanced) is $109 and a Topping D10B (balanced) is $139. Delta is $30, and includes a pair of very nice XLR->TRS adapters!

You have to manually set the volume limit it’s graded in % .
And you can use fixed volume and volume limits setting's together .

i read somewhere that the scaling is 0.6dB per %
So about 93-95% for you

In the 10 band PEQ beta I raised a suggestion to automatically implement volume limit and grade these settings in dB . It would make more sense to most .

I am not 100% sure, if it really solve any problem with overload, if I would set a limit in the WiiM for max output at, let’s say 80 % or 90 %. It all depends if the max output setting is before or after the Equalizer.
I really like the way, roon did it: you can correct the level precise and complete manually in dB to avoid overload or inter sample overload. It has nothing to do with the general max. Level, which I suggest to leave at 100 %. The general max. Level is only to protect your speakers, if you let play family members with your costly stuff ;).
