I have the regular WiiM Pro that I use as a dedicated streamer to feed my DAC via coax. I have never had any real issues with it, has always worked well as a Tidal Connect endpoint which is what I mostly use it for. The app is nice because you can see exactly the sample rate, bit depth, and bit rate of the current song being played, but it can be a bit slow. It is fast when connecting to it through the music service's own app, but using the native WiiM app to browse through streaming platforms is a tad clunky.

We know already that Wiim are going to add 2, maybe 4 extra PEQ bands early next year. That's more than enough to provide reasonable room correction and EQ most headphones, so for me potentially no further need to subscribe to Room. Now, if they could add a reasonably priced mic into the bundled remote, implement a version of housecurve into the app.....

They're also supposedly going to make an "Ultra" version. I hope it has USB Audio Out.

I posted this in Vintage Flanker’s review thread, but I picked up one of these and it’s an absolute delight. They really nailed it with QOL features. It has auto-sense with the toslink input to make integration into an AV setup a breeze. Adjustable output levels shown in mV are great for matching analog sources. The front LED is defeatable. The app is rock solid. The measurements speak for themselves with regard to sound reproduction. This is probably the best value hifi product I have ever owned.

I'm sure I'm not the only one hoping the company's also sent you a WiiM Amp as well…
I was looking at the amp as it has a sub out and bass crossover management in the app. I now have a Raspi with Ropieee and the sub is wired in parallel to the speakers.

I suspect I could route the pro plus's rca out to the sub and the toslink to my existing DAC/amp if they both output at the same time.

They don't, I'm afraid.

I dont get it. It's obvious that many will be willing to get a sub connected. For that, you need a high pass for the speakers. But here if you set a high pass, you will also get it on RCA out, which is the only way to connect a sub. So a sub out plus HDMI eARC and we would have a nice device, this here is close but far from what would be complete. Good that contrary to mini they noticed Chromecast.

When I saw the original WiiM puck I thought here’s another half-assed CCA wanna be that will be forgotten. Glad to see I was wrong and these guys are serious about the work they do. It seems they have no competition at these prices, performance and feature packing. Wish they continue this trend.
Truth be told. When I first saw the Mini, I was not interested at all because I was looking for a Chromecast Audio alternative so I can stream from my Android device via CCA or stream from Roon. I wasn't interested in it's UPnP capabilities either having had bad experience with UPnP. It was when the Pro was rumored being certified for Roon Ready that I was interested. I think the most impressive feature is it's app.

This is a "performant" analog xover that can be config'd for 2.2 or 2.1 bass mgmt (HP+LP) w/24db or 12 db slopes

But - at a cost....($500 U.S.)

Xkitz 2way Crossover
I owned one and used it in a couple of 2 way active speakers. It is nice except it has a flaw IMO.
It has a voltage regulator with a potentiometer so the user can feed it various input voltages and then adjust the pot to set the correct voltage.
The pot is very noisy when it is rotated. I would prefer to simply feed the board with the correct voltage and eliminate the regulator.

The BSC adjustment is very effective at correcting baffle diffraction loss

A stupid question I suspect but:

My DAC has no trigger options but has a remote so can be easily turned on. Could I use a Wiim Pro/Pro Plus (acting as streamer) to trigger my power amp? Sounds obvious but I’ve only ever triggered gear in sequence before so wanted to check there’s no issues with bypassing the DAC.

Yes, if your power amp has a trigger jack. I don't think the cable comes in the box, though. More info in the WiiM manual.

If your DAC has volume control, by having to turn on the DAC separately you now would have a safety check. Turn on the DAC first and confirm that volume is at a reasonable level before starting playback on the WiiM.
