While it's D to A MAY be better (who knows, it has a good DAC chip but that doesn't mean the actual analogue out will measure well)

Just looking at what streaming it supports - the answer is absolutely no, it is not a WiiM Mini killer
  • Airplay 1 (not Airplay 2 - important for multiroom)
  • No Amazon Music UHD casting
  • No Tidal Connect
  • No Chromecast Built-in

Yawn.

Bring on WiiM Pro right @Smartplug :D

Mine wasn't this evening just kept cutting out altogether, went to try and send a report and it wouldn't see device, then it would, then it wouldn't ... happened on multiple occasions and just gave up in the end.

Each time I went to try and re-start the track I received a message saying "a song is already playing on that device (it wasn't) do you want to play something else instead. Sometimes pressing yes worked, other times it didn't.

This thing is the Marmite device for me, love it one minute and hate it with a vengeance the next .... it's SOOOOOO near but still soooo far and with reliability like tonight when you have a group of friends and just want to listen to music it becomes incredibly frustrating.

Sure it's not a problem with your WiFi?

How are you using it? What app isn't working well?

Very early on i had issues since my router supports DoT

Making WiiM use 8.8.8.8 fixed that completely these last months

alas, I copied your settings but still no luck. usually freezes at the end of a song and doesn't move on to the next one.
I had to go to setting in my UPnP app on the phone (BubbleUPnP, Android only) and enable gapless support for the WiiM renderer in it, otherwise it was not working, with similar symptoms like you described. You may want to check settings in your app as well.

It doesn't work casting from Amazon App to just WiiM Minis either, see my post before, it just freezes and you get no sound.

Hi Witterings, sorry for that. Can you please help send a feedback to us? Thank you very much.

Some user had issue on their WiFi but with wiim pro with its Ethernet connection will put an end for those who can connect them directly. I have wifi mesh so I get strong signal anywhere in the house. Single access point only make sense if the place is small.

Single access point works fine even in large space (im in two storey) if you can get the single access point in the middle of the house.

And works fine if using 2.4GHz which works well between walls.

If needing 5GHz in a large home, then yeah you'll need multiple access points.

So as with everything in life, "it depends".

Yes, i used to have just one access point before but it bothers me when 5ghz became weaker and it switch to 2.4 the latency and speed wasn’t same as 5ghz. With the new band 6ghz that started to appear i will eventually replace my mesh and my devices when they become widely available. I’m impatient on latency I just want extremely responsive device. Anyway, my next upgrade will be WiiM pro. I cant make up my mind which amp I want to buy next mono price monolith or Emotiva xpa 2.

I wonder what wiim is waiting as I want to buy this product.
Perhaps they are doing all the testing/validation/fixing everyone says "they should do properly" whenever something doesn't work?

Can you paste your bridge log? It could be at http://<lms_ip>:9000/material/upnpbridge-log.log. If not there, you can find it from UPnP bridge settings.

Your experiences are similar to mine on the older FW. The new one has fixed it for me.

This video from the CheapAudioMan reminded me that I have another device a "Belkin Soundform connect" in my house which the Wiim Mini app totally connects to and controls - pretty handy as I can use the one app and any sources setup in the Wiim Mini app can be made to play by the Belkin device (its is also an Airplay2, Alexa and UPNP renderer and even a mobile phone wireless charger) - but sadly it sounds terrible IMO and no eq controls - so fine for the kids TV room.

But its interesting that there are multiple devices with the same core platform and some like the Belkin are completely compatible with the Wiim Mini App and benefit from the new features of the Wiim Mini (though sadly not the EQ)
