The Mini does not do Google Cast, apart from that it's bit perfect/gapless over TOSLINK.I plan to use this with my headphone amp and DAC. I will pretty much only use Spotify for this set up and want PEQ. That is why I'm going this route. Since I'll be using toslink out only is there any reason to get a Pro,Plus, or Ultra? I can't think of any.
It also lacks certain room sharing functionality that wiim pro and up have due to lack of memory and processing power. The Mini does not do Google Cast, apart from that it's bit perfect/gapless over TOSLINK.

The answer by @jareinertson is the right one, unless:Since I'll be using toslink out only is there any reason to get a Pro,Plus, or Ultra?
Sorry, but I am not sure why you say "least favorable"... especially when you then go on to mention a few (not not all) of the benefits of the Pro over the Mini. The Pro is the least favourable option and may be good for those who need two SPDIF outputs (or a coaxial one).
Ok, there is another benefit of the Pro I forgot - one can use the optical input to use the PEQ or the room correction for a CD/DVD/BD player. So the Pro has its place in the Wiim line-up.Sorry, but I am not sure why you say "least favorable"... especially when you then go on to mention a few (not not all) of the benefits of the Pro over the Mini.
I assume the Wiim Mini digital out to a headphone amp? Yes, that would bring up the best the headphone amp and headphones of your choiceThis is only going to be for a bedroom headphones set up. So I don't think I need all of that.

If you already have a dac you really like, for me it's my RME ADI2 DAC FS, then the Pro is the best option for me. Used on ebay for $100 to $120 vs. $80 used for mini. Especially for use in different setups like bedroom, office, and main setups. Then the mini can be a pita. On a one setup basis the mini is just fine. Pro plus gives me nothing I don't already have as I already had DACs in use in each of my systems. The mini has the best bang for the buck. The Pro is the least favourable option and may be good for those who need two SPDIF outputs (or a coaxial one). If one needs analog outputs or inputs the Pro Plus is the better option.
Mini doesn't have native Squeezlite/LMS either.
That's the proper workaround.Shows up as a player for me (using the UPnP/DLNA Bridge plug-in) and works fine (at 320k for Spotify) for now.

Mini is an incredibly versatile device. If all you need is a network bridge with all the features, there is no need for anything else. If you don't have a DAC, then you need to look elsewhere. That's the proper workaround.
Some people claim to have problems with the upnpbridge plugin while others report it working flawlessly. I don't know, I don't use LMS.
(But personally I think that those who say it works are usually smart people ...)
For many setups, an 89dB SINAD is quite sufficient, IMO. We're just used to much higher numbers these days, but let's not forget the big picture...Mini is an incredibly versatile device.
