Is it possible that I can not do initial Wiim Home app setup because my wifi router is in another room? It just loads and loads and finally says that Wiim Mini can not connect to network.
It's possible. Does the wiim have a wifi signal strength indicator?

you could try moving it not the room with the router for the setup to see what happens.

Are you getting any connectivity between your phone and the wiim? I'm not familiar with. the setup process. It will probably use bluetooth for the initial connection to allow you to set up the wifi.

As @antcollinet says, try taking it into the same room as the router and see if it makes a difference, from memory I think you also need to make sure Bluetooth and Location are enabledd on your phone / tablet when you do the 1st setup and make sure it's connected to the same network as opposed to mobile data.

Yes, the phone recognizes WiiM Mini and even the optical cable that is inserted in Wiim. Also, I am not sure if the receiver/amplifier should be turned on, but for me it is. I will try to see if the problem is with distance. But my wifi signal throughout the house is very high, so I doubt it. I spent hours yesterday and nothing. Even tried with another phone, removed all wifi passwords, changed cables, power adapter. But no luck so far. I will report back to you if I manage to start it when I put it near the router.

Hi, well I obviously believed in my DLink router which wasn't working well since it was bought. I replaced the router, and successfully finished setup. So the old router is in the garbage. Anyhow, do you people use WiiM Home app for streaming via Tidal or you use Tidal's app? Which one you find better?

I only use the Wiim app for DLNA/UPnP from my NAS and Wiim-specific functions. For Tidal streaming, I use the Tidal app.

Most of the "Native" Apps, irrespective of if it's WiiM or BluOs or any other are pretty horrible ... I used to use Amazon's App and "cast" from my device, I now use Tidal's App and can use that on a PC as well as mobile device which I like.

If you're playing locally stored music, you can also look at UPnP or MConnect depending on if you'ra Android or Apple.

Yeah, imo Amazon is clearly not represented well on wiim software.... I use a fire stick .. Much better ui....not the greatest streamer though, it's a bit glitchy... The wiim is more reliable

I am planning to combine a Wiim Mini with a pair of active studio monitors(most probably Adam T5V) so to control them via my phone with Bluetooth.
Does it come with all required cables so to achieve above functionality?
If not, can you guide me on what cables I need to buy?

The T5V has balanced and unbalanced (XLR and RCA) inputs. I believe the only analog output on the Mini is a 3.5mm jack. Easiest way to connect them would be a 3.5mm to stereo RCA breakout cable like this one.

Mine came with a mini stereo jack to RCA L & R plugged cable so unless they've changed the package it seems the answer is yes. The output doesn't sound anywhere as good as via toslink to dac say Topping M50 as you can use as a pre amp - then to speakers via rcas.... A few more readies needed for that though.... ; )

A mini display for the Mini (or any WiiM).

Interesting - how does that connect?
WiFi

It's three years since I tried the Mini. I didn't like that it couldn't easily be controlled from an Android tablet. Any news on that front?

Let me check how the app works on my tablet . Think they made it suitable recently . And on Chromebook

The android app now resizes for tablet properly but I believe is functionally identical .
