The WiiM Home app for LG Smart televisions running WebOS has been released. The photo is of it running on mine. It can be installed via the App menu on the television itself.

'The WiiM Home app unifies your music and device settings in one place, enabling effortless control of your WiiM devices and enhancing your overall listening experience.'

WiiM is relentless (positive).

If I didn’t keep my LG OLED C5 disconnected from the Internet in dumb TV mode (except for updates) I’d give this a shot. I’ve played around with the Apple TV 4K WiiM app a bit but having a giant music player onscreen is generally not my thing.

What exactly does it report back to base?

If Web OS and LG UI were not such total crap, this might be fine. But it is better to turn it all off, set up max privacy (well, LG will still monitor sound from things on the LG like OTA and apps on it to see what that email address is watching) and instead; use iOS or AppleTV or FireTV to control it.
When I got my LG, I wanted to see if it was usable (later, like many, I determined it is not) so I started the sign up. Created a hide my email address. Then came a page of crap surrendering my privacy. With no way out, it seemed. But I just hit the escape button on the remote and that did it. I was able to add apps and all but, LG had nothing but my fake email address. Then I turned off all the intrusive settings. Many scattered about in little holes in the UI where you would NEVER think they would be!
Samsung and the Chinese and Walmart's brand are just as bad. Track track track. Confusing stuff. Start here:

I also turned off wi-fi or pulled the ethernet plug. I use Apple TV for streaming anyway. Missing LG updates though. I do it once a year (a few months ago) or, if I hear some bad thing is on LG WebOS and it needs updating. None, so far. But it is working great as a monitor now so, maybe I will never update! I use an old Recast as my OTA too. When that dies or Amazon deliberately kills it (as they often do), I guess OTA is over for me. Sad.

I've said before, if only TV's were all just monitors and you bought your own safe hardware or software to feed them...

It's a while back that I read some detailed test about the malware level of smart TVs. But LG took the crown with their high frequency of data recording, aggregation and leaking. I found vast screenshotting really intrusive and especially hard to justify by any manufacturer.

I like WebOS and their TVs in general. Would buy again from them anytime. But I make my TVs dumb like many others do. No wifi, no network. Unless I want a new firmware.

Sad that this kind of device has wandered off from optimal. I can only guess the sales price isn't high enough. Or wait.. greed.

But it's great that WiiM releases that. Many people don't care about the malware. And if someone does but also wants that TV with the app for some reason, it's not too hard to strip it from internet access while having it on the localnet for the WiiM app. I just assume it works like the mobile app, which also works with localnet only.

My post wasn't meant to be a magnet for OS critics and surveillance state opponents, but lunatics and trolls coming out to play at any given opportunity is par for the course on the Internet.

As I wrote to another blunt individual elsewhere, don't like it, piss off then. Good bye.

Well, the rest of the internet is not your little facebook group.

Don't like it, piss off I guess?

I'll tell your mom hello, since she's a card carrying member of my 'little facebook group.'

How do you even function in normal society, or do you just roam the Internet night and day looking for opportunities to allow your antisocial personality disorder to play out?
