Hi,

If I am streaming WiFi from my WiiM Pro Plus (at 2V output) by optical to my Lavaudio DS600 DAC then by RCA (at 3.4Vrms output) to my amp, what is the actual output to the amp? My amp is an Audiophonics Hypex Ncore NC502MP.

Is there any reason to consider adding a separate (higher output) preamp if the volume through my speakers is far more than I need?

Thanks

2V output is only valid if you're using the WiiM's Analog output.

Optical doesn't have a voltage, just the digital signal amplitude (dBFS).

With WiiM->Optical->DS600, you'll have the DAC's full signal amplitude going into the Hypex Amp.

1Mii specify this as 3.4Vrms in their user manual, while Amir only got 2.0Vrms in his test. Which one is correct, I don't know.

Unless your DAC->Amp connection is severely underdamped, none.
