Wiim announce WiiM Amp Ultra

I'm curious to see if WiiM has advanced its learning curve with the TPA3255 amplifiers.
From the Amp to the Amp Pro to the Vibelink, each time improvements were shown in the amplifier part.

The Amp Ultra will have two 3255 chips, as will the 3e A7, and will so be load stable up to 2 ohms.

Very interesting all-in-one solution and I assume that the measurements will not disappointing.

649$
749-799€
700£

my prediction
Eversolo Play is under 600€. Less power (60/110w, 8/4 ohms), bigger 5,5" display with better UI, AK4493SEQ dac and from what I've heard better build quality.

Wiil amp Ultra shouldn't be more expensive if they want to compete with Eversolo.

compared Eversolo Play to Wiim Ultra. I doubt they will change much on the new Amp Ultra when it comes to hardware.
I think the WiiM Ultra and WiiM Amp Ultra are two completely different devices.

What strikes me is that more and more companies are more or less shamelessly copying the design of the WiiM devices.

It's the Mac mini design but yeah, companies copy each other all the time. Even my Fiio k11 looks very similar.

I agree. The evolution of Wiim’s products from a performance point of view is commendable.

If the Amp Ultra does have two chips like the 3e A7 then we will have the hifi bargain of the decade as potentially not only will it be 2 ohm tolerant, but like the A7 chuck out a ton of power into 2ohm.

Logically the Ultra Amp should have better performance then the Vibelink as would be befitting of the Ultra monika.

It’s the perfect next product in the roadmap too allowing the Ultra streamer/pre to continue to exist until perhaps next year when they can consider an Ultra Pro (balanced outputs and stereo sub outs) and after that an Ultra Vibe which would a high power stereo power amp.

I've seen 699€

I've seen 699€
At Magna HIFI the price is still 577,69 on Google but when you click on the link, now it's 722,11.

That was the price yesterday and it says nothing about tax. I'll wait till arrives at HifiGo, everything is cheaper there.
You're right! All their prices are weird like that, and it's definitely with tax. Example checkout:

Weird. My best guess is, they're doing it so they show up on top of the usual searches sorted by price.

looks nice, but only digital volume control is no go for me ... it's a pitty there is no analog volume control like by Vibelink
There is a physical volume control and unlike the vibelink (its biggest flaw) there is a remote control. Why is digital volume control a no go?

There is knob, but it's not analog but digital, isn't it ? Two reasons why I strongly prefer analog control - 1/ I'm afraid of getting full power into my speakers and ears accidentaly 2/ I listen on very low levels so digital regulation will take too many bits

This has been discussed endlessly. The second is a myth, the first is an excuse.

1/ excuse but can happend (This happened to me while demonstrating the Marantz PM7000N in a hifi studio, it was a mistake by the salesperson - I would never want to do it again)

2/ no myth - to get 55dB for quiet listening I need -60d = 10b, even with HQ DAC with noise under 20-22b it will reduce digital data to 10-12b

1/ ok fair enough, but it’s a simple setup requirement that needs no further thought after it is done.

2/ Wiim upscales to 32bit to give you plenty of volume attenuation before any audible effects. You can ignore the science if you like.

The second is a myth, the first is an excuse.
The reason we only hear about it rarely is because it demolishes the whole chain price of each one's gear in used market.
And by that, I'll never buy second hand speakers or amps.

A scheme to prevent that is mandatory to anyone using digitally controlled levels, either VC or RC, x-overs, etc.
