But it doesn't become disposable the day software update stop. It could work for a decade after that.

This whole 'disposable' thing is a weird flex.
Why is that a "flex?" What am I flexing, a product that I don't own nor plan to own? If Wiim makes billions or goes out of business, it wouldn't make any difference in my life or if all of these Wiim's die today, I'm not losing anything since I don't own any, so what am I flexing on?

Anyway, I do hope for all the Wiim and potential Wiim owners, these Wiim lasts you very long, I have nothing to gain if it doesn't last you.

You're totally entitled to your approach and even to your personal opinion about buying separates instead of all-in-one devices.

I can offer to inform you right here as soon as any function of my WiiM Amp Ultra dies. :)

Assuming it's dying before I do. ;)
I'm pointing out something for those who may find it as a point of substance, it is not meant to be an attack on someone's pride of Wiim ownership. If you don't think what I said is a point of substance, then it doesn't matter to you.

Take a look at the JBL line of Class D AVRs. They were selling them dirt cheap this holiday.
The JBL AVR tested miserably. And the JBL Synthesis HT Pre’s are >$5,000.

I want an upstart like WiiM that’s committed to engineering excellence to disrupt the HT gear market.

I have an unopened pair of the Fosi’s. I’ve gotta consider this. More to think about….

Looks like this is the only flaw @amirm spotted - can anyone owning this device comment on it?
I'm owning two WiiM streamers and founds the app to be working fine.
Mine worked on iphone flawless first time. The app adds a lot of functiuonality including DSP for EQ, sub/mains crossover, auto room correction you can adjust manually. You can change the screen to a few different things including a "VU" meter, 2 days ago a spectrum analyser appeared. So there updating as we speak.

I read from the user manual, no AirPlay2. Why? Wiim Ultra and Pro Plus have it. Is it because of amplification inside the device?
You can use bluetooth to connect apple devices and Wiim says the quality is the same as airplay 2 which is not lossless.

What's it missing? Usb input
I have a usb stick in mine that I backed up my windows machine on including 5000 songs. It scanned it and found all the music.
Or do you mean plugging a computer into it thru USB? Dosnt do that but you can use optical or HDMI to connect the two.

So they copy Apple's aesthetic and "i" lingo, but don't use Airplay? Looks like a great product but no Airplay support means hard pass for my use-case. It's a shame, my NAD C328 is on it's last legs and was hoping this might have been a suitable replacement/upgrade, but I guess not.
you can use bluetooth with same results

In what world anyone critically listens to HT background noises instead of getting immersed in the scene? Even if it measured bad, can anyone notice a difference in a HT?

The issue is the apps. With iOS/Android updates, after a period the app won’t be able to be installed on your phone.

Just in case nobody has mentioned it, the app also lets you choose from 8 different DAC ultrasonic output filters. I couldnt tell a difference (maybe the old ears) so left it on the default.

Not if they’re out of business or acquired by a company who doesn’t care about supporting old hardware.
Buy than I will have a new phone and I will keep the old one for the app.
Idealy everything the app does should be accessible from the touch screen, this is my biggest peeve with any device that needs an app.

Just found this, There working on "deeper setting controls accessible directly on the glass"

Hope all the settings endup there.

99% of us will own new streamer/amps before the Wiim app stops working.

Of course that’s a valid strategy. Like I said, I’ve bought a lot of WiiM gear so I’m ok with some risk in this space. But I don’t like the idea of my whole system, which is perfectly fine hardware-wise, becoming unusable because of software.

As a mitigating factor, WiiM have an API which should make it possible for 3rd party apps to emerge if the company itself stops releasing updates for whatever reason.

Bluetooth is lower quality, AirPlay uses WiFi. Also, BT doesn't allow for multiple devices at the same time. Whereas AirPlay can play to a number of devices simultaneously.

A workaround is to to connect the output of an Airplay-capable WiiM device like a WiiM Mini to the WiiM Ultra Amp. This can be done physically or via WiFi - using the WiiM Home app to 'group' the WiiM Mini with the Wiim Ultra Amp (or other WiiM device that does not support Airplay).

I am uncertain whether this workaround will allow for multiple devices to be used at the same time.

Presumably yes, it should work with multiple device as that is selected on the playing/sending device. So my iPhone, for example, I could select WIIM Mini, a Sonos speakers, and another apple device and play the same music simultaneously. I know other platforms do similar stuff I'm just familiar with the apple AirPlay and have it on other devices.

I have Apple Homepod used as streamer. iPhone used to control Apple Home app. THE ONLY LOSSLESS Airplay2 is using Apple Homepod as streamer. I’ve been leaving bluetooth audio since 10 years ago. So, I’m hoping the Wiim just as AirPlay receiver, not transmitter. Just like everyone else, AirPlay receiver only.

The WiiM Amp Pro, WiiM Amp Ultra, and WiiM Ultra support Dolby Digital Audio
I know, I'm using it since the beta and hence my wish.
