After a few bumps and false starts, my newish WiiM Amp Ultra has successfully scanned and indexed and organized a USB drive collection of nearly 2K albums, playable via a beautiful interface on the WiiM app on my iPad. Instant (sort of) music server!

I also recently used the app to sync my speaker and subwoofer, and ran the RoomFit calibration to help deal with the anomalies of my listening room, and both seemed to result in noticeably improved sound.

I'm really loving the WiiM combination of elegant, well-engineered hardware and its amazing range of software connectivity and playback offerings.

Picked up one under the current sale. It is hilarious how good this thing is, from the software to the sound quality, what you get for $500. Guessing it won't last like a more premium component, but it certainly meets the hype in my short 2 day experience.

Definitely a ridiculous value especially with a discount.

I wouldn’t be so sure about these amps not lasting or being disposable tech. I continue to use the original WiiM Amp I bought three years ago before also buying the WiiM Amp Ultra, and it’s still going strong. And of course the constant improvements via firmware and software updates are themselves huge value propositions that most unchanging and inert old-school audiophile components, however solidly built and robust, can’t touch.

They're Duntech Black Knight speakers (1990) - as described in my sig. The foam surrounds of the woofers have been replaced (via Dynaudio kit) and so have the original Dynaudio tweeters - with Eton 25 SD1 tweeters, which serve quite well as drop-in replacements. With room equalisation using the WIIM Amp Ultra, they sound better than ever before.

I've read about the Mirage speakers, though I have never heard them!

I purchased a refurb Wiim Amp Ultra during the recent sale. I have a Wiim Ultra and Topping Mini 300 in my living room and need either it or the Amp Ultra at my desk. Is one better suited for either job? They seem pretty dang equal in terms of amp capabilities.

I'd say either option would be fine, but might might depend on space and ease of use considerations. I have a WiiM Amp Ultra and an Ultra + Vibelink. Originally I had the amp ultra in my office and the Ultra + Vibelink as the main system in lounge. There was a period (I beleive since fixed with a firmware update) where sometimes the vibelink wouldn't play any sound after being triggered on by the ultra, which got a bit annoying in my lounge system which is used by others in the house. So I swapped them around and now prefer the Amp Ultra in the main system because it's such a great amp and just works flawlessly. I would be surprised if you noticed much, if any, sound difference between your two options unless you really need the extra power of the amp ultra over the mini 300 in your main system.
