Wiim Amp Ultra alternative with pre out?

TLDR: as the title says, I'm looking for a one-box streamer/DAC/pre/amp like the Wiim Amp Ultra, but since I'm class D amp curious, I'd also like to have the option to play around with an external amp for which I'd need a pre-out, which the Wiim Amp Ultra doesn't have. Since I almost exclusivley listen to locally hosted flacs, support of various streaming services is not a major concern, having room correction/eq and a sub-out would be something I'd like to have, though.

For a bit more background: For almost 20 years I had Beauhorn Virtuoso speakers (w Lowther DX4s) and a PX25 tube amp. This combo - while certainly not perfect - made me stop looking for anything better and I haven't heard much in the past years that would make me want to switch (the Linkwitz LX521 being a notable exception). About 10 years ago, I added a Naim Atom one-box streamer and I have a cheap little 10" sub to round out the bottom, and since then I've been a happy camper and haven't looked much at Audio stuff (I realize, that horn speakers and the Naim are not very well regarded around here, but the Beauhorns have a phase plug that eliminates the infamous Lowther shout, so they are somewhat linear) . But I'm getting close to retirement age now and at some point (not too soon, though), it will be necessary to replace the unwieldy Beauhorns with smaller speakers. So, I've been lurking here for a while and was reading, among other things, about the Ascilab C6B. To dip my toes into the monitor speaker pool, I ordered a pair, which just arrived last week. While they are nowhere near close to my Beauhorns, they are fantastic speakers for the money and very easy to listen to. Initially, I thought to pass them on soon, but instead, I'd like to keep them around for a bit and build a small second system around them. Hence, the above inquiry. Budget-wise I'd like to stay in Wiim territory, but there is some breathing room, if warranted.

I am unaware of a 'one-box' option meeting your requirements.

The WiiM Amp Ultra has a class D amp. To sample multiple Class D amps I would consider a 'two-box' option using the WiiM Ultra preamp as the source.

Hi, I own the 3E Audio A7 paired with a WiiM Ultra and I can thoroughly recommend. The WiiM Ultra has a user friendly app, is feature rich and its subwoofer management really makes sub integration a simpler process. The A7 was my first class D amplifier and I choose it incase I wanted to upgrade to a set to a more complex pair of speakers to drive. You will need to double check, but I believe the A7 will have enough power to drive your Ascilab’s. The only gripe I have with the A7 is its aesthetics, my last amp was a stylish addition to my room, the A7 is small but in my opinion, a bit unsightly and is something I want to hide out of view. That being said, if it had the looks, it would probably be a lot more expensive.

MiniDSP SHD Power for example. You can use the analog sub-outs (these are not stictly for subs as far as I know) or the digital pre-outs (this requires an extarnal DAC) to connect an external power amp.

If you have some technical skills, a Raspberry Pi, Lyrion, and CamillaDSP will allow you to have the best and most adaptable preamp, streamer, and DSP

Thanks for all the suggestions! Lots of food for thought.
I've toyed around with a Rpi before and run Linux at home, but this seems like a significant diy effort, so I'd rather start with something off the shelf. The A7 looks promising and something I wasn't aware of so far. Seems to be a step up from a Fosi, but significantly cheaper than a Buckeye etc. But I can't seem to locate a version with the 10A power supply.

It’s a great option. The 3E audio page on Ali Express is currently down atm (not unusual) but they have the 10a power supply available to buy as an optional extra. I can’t be 100% certain but there might be an option to buy without the standard power supply. Regardless, depending of what country you are in, you may or may not have additional import duties to pay when ordering via AE. Also, if you want to save some money, AE has some great sales at various periods in the year and is worth monitoring.

joining in recommending Ultra + 3e amp.

how are your speakers holding out? 20 years. Are they completely dried out to a stone?

Those speakers are holding up just fine. I replaced the Lowther's (single driver) just last year and now they are as good as new.

Small update otherwise. I just received the Ultra today, looking forward to put it into service. Regarding the 3e, I wasn't able to find one with the 10A power supply, so after some hemming and hawing I went whole hog and ordered a Buckeye NC502MP. Has yet to arrive, but I'll report back.

Got the Buckeye amp and I'm barely an hour into listening to it...but I think, I'll sell the tube amp. The latter still adds a certain something, but it's subtle and not worth five times the price (and the inconvenience of switching tubes). Have to look into the newer Ascilab speakers now, but that's for another thread...
