After doing more research on the WiiM, it also uses a bridged output, and the “-“ terminal is not ground. I’m exploring how I could use use stereo L/R subs with the WiiM. Doesn’t seem like this is possible.
Why stereo subs? Wouldnt it be more benificial to ”fight” room modes when used in mono?
Or Would that screw up the Wiim room correction?

I’m looking to set up subs with a mini monitor that has a 5” woofer. There are a couple very interesting designs using a passive crossover at 200hz, which essentially turns them into a 3 way speaker, rather than a speaker with a sub. But then the bass becomes directional so you need stereo subs located near or under your speakers. I’d like to do this with a couple of active subs. You need to be sure the subs ar3 good at 200-300hz.

So what's in a musical recording at such high frequencies?

What commonly used acoustic music miking mics - I'm not talking about the ones used for some unrealistically well-made test recordings to show that there are harmonics at a high level after placing the mic in the mouthpiece of the trumpet or flush with the piano strings at the very end of the soundboard -, go above 20-21 Khz? Not the great Neumans anyway. Some B&K go higher but they don't have much to capture when they are 2 m or more from the instruments to be recorded... And what is there to record at these frequencies in a concert hall ?

Not much and on an infinitesimally small level...

What effects potentiated with each other could have effects an octave or two lower that would measure up and be found in the audible band?

I don't know... if someone can tell us...
I know a guy who I went to school with that has been recording for 20 years now. I think he knows as much about it
I certainly do. This level of performance for $3000? Probably more of a not terrible. This level for $380? Yeah top vote for sure.

Can't speak for everyone, of course. There are certainly some people for whom the fact that this is cheap and small is in fact a negative mark. Can't be a real amplifier if it's not big and expensive.
Agreed. I think when you are used to paying thru the nose for this performance then all of the sudden you can get 80 percent of your 5k dollar gear for 400 bucks it's going to bother you. I don't know what these guys are on, but if you roll back 10 years this would have blown people's minds. Hdmi, room correction, sub out, excellent app, good dac, and peq? And the company uses tech to change the amp architecture to perform better? What is there to complain about? The measurements that may be audible? I will give the company an a for effort at this price even if I hear distortion.

Would the Wiim drive my [spare] DALI Opticon 2 mk2's [86.5dB , 4 ohm nominal impedance] in my small home office as a 3rd system in our home?
I plan to use it for Qobuz and internet radio streaming [radio paradise], low volume levels [may be an issue?] and not for critical listening.
FWIW, now that the crowds have left my house after Christmas, I've been fortunate enough to park myself in front of my new (to me) Harbeths (SHL5+ XD) with the WiiM Amp Pro and it's been nothing short of sublime. Granted these are nominal 6-ohm speakers but I pretty much guarantee you that you'll have no problem at all.

The seductive sound from this amp plus its relatively low price and astonishing configurability (via the app) make it one of the best (and smartest) purchases I've ever made. So you might say I like it.

Does anyone knows if it will ever have Airplay support? I would love to upgrade to the pro but all my music is on Apple Music!

I made the switch to Qobuz from Apple Music by using Soundiiz to transfer my playlists over and it worked very well with a very low failure rate (songs that were on Apple Music but not on Qobuz), in order to buy and use a WiiM Ultra, which doesn’t support Apple Music or AirPlay.

Happy new year all together!

I was looking for an amp for my TV-Setup. Main target is HDMI via TV to the Amp and then to the small speakers.
First was testing a used NAD M10 V2. Result: Not useable via HDMI, a lot of distortions and clicks, independent from the digital signal format (PCM or not). The NAD was going back to the seller. A test at the seller said, that the HDMI-input was OK. Not sure what it was. In my setup it was definitely not useable.
2nd choice was the WIIM-Amp pro. After reading this test here on audiosciencereview i ordered one piece from the local HiFi-Dealer in Graz nearby. Now this little piece of Amp is working in my setup since a few weeks and what should I say? Nothing is missing, sounds perfect, more than enough power, very pleasing sound, bass, treble, mids, all there as it should be. For this little price a bargain.

Greetings, Walter

Here a picture from my setup:
The tecnics SC-C70 on the right side is my “breakfast radio” ;-)

Hi Walter,
Did you bother to apply roomcorrection? If so, did you notice any audible difference?

In that amp in the Harbeth video, it is showing apparent power over a synth pedal tone that is right at the phase minimum of the speaker. Further discussion here:

Tldr, I think it’s misleading.
Hmm, that depends on the point of view, I think. Even at phase minimum, the amplifier circuitry still needs to provide the required current, even if it’s out of phase with the voltage at that moment. The load is what it is.

Naturally, using a different pair of speakers would result in the meters showing a different value for the same SPL. One might speculate, though, whether Harbeth was aware that this track would showcase a high apparent power due to the phase and impedance characteristics of this specific speaker model -creating the perfect "high power" demonstration.
A "low power" demonstration can also be created using the same technique, as evidenced in various videos. However, these often rely on tracks that are light on bass and dynamics.

The "truth" likely lies somewhere in between, but with a diverse taste in music, I’d suggest "shopping" while keeping the worst-case scenario in mind.

I love what the company is doing. Their direct support of Lyrion Music Server is the icing on the cake.

Next time, I get glases, thank you!

Speaking of DD. Has anyone tried 2 speaker and DD mode with a movie, does it give you some kind of surround "feeling"?
I’ve tried this via Netflix. But there is no typical surround sound effect. Good old stereo sound and that from very good quality. In my case: surround in 2.0 :)

Ok, too bad. I’m fighting between something like that in 2.0 setup or AVR in 3.0. Lets hope something comes up in the near future.
