Hello.

As this is my first post the praise is in order. I'm very happy that there is a place for measurements based audio nerds. Thanks for all of these reviews.

Now the main question. Does Wimm Amp has latency problems on HDMI ARC ? This would be my main use case (plain stereo PCM output for samsung tv).

I read that older software was lagging with audio (so called lip-sync performance). I ask because I tend to focus on miniscule details (that's why i lurked this forum for years) and it really bothers me even before buy.

There are quite a few threads about the latency on WiiM devices in the WiiM forums.

I believe it’s around 50ms and I tried to use a WiiM Sound Lite as a centre speaker with my Marantz AVR and there wasn’t enough delay on the AVR to align the WiiM Sound. A1 Evo Acoustix showed the delay was around 52 ms.

I use a WiiM Amp connected to a Samsung The Frame (2023 model) via HDMI ARC for 2.0 listening with zero noticeable lag. Hopefully this anecdote is useful to you.

Latency for HDMI/ARC is a fact of life. The problem is probably lip-sync, right? It depends on your setup - AV or stereo, eARC or ARC, and what sources are connected to what....

I use stereo PCM only, using the TV's eARC output to the ARC input on my stereo - there are no problems even though the TV has lip-synch adjustment I can set (but don't need to). it may worse if you are outputting multiple channels from the TV, but how everything is connected is important - some sources should connect to AVR first and some to TV first.....

Sometimes I have a recording that has inherent lip-synch issues but these are easily fixed in the file itself using ffmpeg or gui-based front-end for it, like MKVToolnix.

I remember in the recent firmware upgrades there was latency addressed and further reduced.

The changelog over in the WiiM forum would have the details.
