WiiM Amp discussion

HDMI ARC input provides the big benefit that you can easily change the volume of your amp via your TV remote. This is very convenient and could be a huge WAF.
Agreed - but my point is that every different input has its specific benefits, USB included.

The specs are quite bare... and it's still not on the WiiM site either;

I'd at the very least like to see an honest THD+N figure at either 1 or 5W and the SNR... hopefully Amir is sent one for testing soon. It seems WiiM are holdings their cards on this close to their chest for now... unsure if that is a positive or negative at this point.

I‘m getting some product of the year vibes here, can‘t wait for first measurements.
Slab some used Elacs on it and you got a convenient and capable system in the three digit range. Perfect for Newbies.

Will have a closer look at the Wiim Ultra next year.

Exactly my plan, watching a few pairs of Elacs on eBay and also going to add a B stock sub from BK's eBay shop in the future for a bedroom system.
I agree with you on the product of the year vibes, I'm hoping Wiim will send, or have sent, one to Amir ASAP.

I've had my eyes on the Wiim Amp for a while now so I will probably buy one as soon as they are on the market.
Do not have any fancy measuring possibility other than my ears but will do a comparison with my Denon RCD-M37 + Wiim Mini + Atom Dac+
I bought the Denon used for around 50-60 euro and the Atom used around 100 euro and the Wiim Mini new for 100 euro - all in all less than 300 euro
and it can even play CDs

Unfortunately the Denon have a massive ground loop hum on the subwoofer output so I will compare them without subwoofer using my Tangent Evo 4 speakers.
Yes this is my cheap kitchen stereo and also my intented use for it. I will probably also test it in my living room with a couple of B&W M1s

I have one of those Denon RCD-M37 , still working but it has a hum noise when no music is playing, it is a nice little thing.

Yes considering you can get a used Denon RCD-M37 for €50 they are pretty hard to beat (if they work). Just add a Wiim Mini and you have
a streaming, CD amp for under €150. Add a couple of used Tangent EVO 4 for another €50 and a used XTZ 8 inch sub for €50
and you have a really decent setup for under €250

For €350 I'm still gonna try out the new Wiim Amp

Official page is up. Uses ESS Sabre DAC! 5W SINAD 93 is very good.
