WiiM Amp discussion

I love how responsive WiiM has been on feedback and firmware updates. Without naming companies, I've had some less than stellar experiences elsewhere, especially from big, expensive hifi brands who left major bugs outstanding in firmware update capable devices and never bothered to ship a single update post launch. Go WiiM!

thank you for this thread, shame on WiiM to release such flawed and unfinished product, hope you all can get a refund or replacement unit. Sonos amp look more and more attractive every day, especially since it can do 4.1 dolby digital

I will say, the setup experience is great and I‘m quite satisfied with the sound quality. Pairs well with my Yamaha Pianocraft speakers and the Yamaha YST-FSW150 subwoofer.

1st batch dont look very good :(

as always : cheap price / revolution is a mirage in audio

Well that’s not quite true, the Wiim Pro Plus as a streamer ( and almost certainly through analogue too) is as good as it gets, at any price.

I mean… if they fix the coilwhine issue everything is perfect? Everything else is software
I've tested a lot of stereo DAC/amp products with HDMI ARC and besides the coil whine and per input source volume issues (both of which are being fixed), the WiiM Amp is by far the absolute best I've tested. Everything else I've tested is super buggy with HDMI ARC and either has bad audio artifacts (clicking, popping, clipping), or weird issues like the HDMI ARC input randomly dying after a few hours. I haven't had any such issues with my WiiM Amp.

My device arrived yesterday and I don’t even have to go into the web api to find out which version I have: it’s giving off a constant humming noise that’s easily audible from 1.5m away. That’s both on and in standby. Dang.
Where did you get it from?

I bought it from wiim-audio.de, which appears to be their main German distributor.

In the meantime I also opened a ticket with the Wiim team directly to get a replacement device.
Still waiting to hear back on my replacement request from last week.

Not so great news, then... I also ordered from the same page, mine is still in transit, though. From the looks of things, the possibility of encountering the same issue is high. Hopefully, they'll replace the affected devices soon.

Just got my WiiM here in Germany.
Only problem no mattter what I do or what I change I cant get sound on my Bravia Sony H90. He recognizes an Arc input and then the test sound wont play and I just dont get anything. Any idea what it can be? Oh and optical out its the same.

Only Bluetooth works. :/
