Planars are wonderful if you want to keep your subbass whilst listening to a real openback headphone. Openback dynamic driver headphones roll off much earlier, if you don’t close off something in the cups a la the DT900 Pro X.
Personally I find the Sundara to be the best headphone Hifiman makes currently besting the Susvara and HE400se by a smidgen. I do prefer my old HE500 but it is sadly out of production.
I love different sound signatures for different moods and genres. That’s pretty much madness but also the sole reasoning behind me owning more than one headphone.
Tastes also differ. One man’s treasure is another man’s trash. There are people who loathe the classic Sennheisers just as much as others detest Hifimen. It’s all down to individual tastebuds. There’s no right or wrong if you are digging the music.
