Why do some people say that Genelec sound too “flattering” or “too forgiving”? Specifically for mixing

Listen to Muse 'Map of the Problematique' on a Genelec and then on an ATC SCM 25.

On the Genelecs you'll hardly notice the over compression.

That's a great aspect brought into the discussion (I love the Auratones for that).

Back to the quiz: what is an even more important aspect? (hint: it is so simple, if I mention it, everyone will jump up and say: 'of course, you loser!') - and still it's a secret never mentioned, and it seems almost nobody even thinks about it, when deciding for monitors). :D

A philosophical comment: Any time a thread subject begins with "why do some people say..." it is a guarantee the topic will be populated by unsubstantiated opinion.
I wonder why ppl, dropping useless one sentence comments only, even post in forums instead of just STFU and do something constructive.

His point was that much of this thread consists of useless er, unsubstantiated comments.

Canada?

a whole bunch of nonce to justify shit sounding monitors. There's a reason why some of these so called music engineers try to mystify stuff.

I agree, and I'd go one step further: Pick any thread where members are asked "why do some people say" or "what do you think about this other forum's discussion thread comments," and there's a very good chance that the OP is only interested in responses that conform to whatever unstated opinion they already hold and are secretly looking to have confirmed here.

Thread has taken a nasty turn and so will get a rest until I can sort it out properly.
