Who makes the best drivers in the world?

Implementation is orders of magnitude much more important than the driver itself. To give an example, Genelec use Peerless, Dutch and Dutch use a mixture of Dayton and Wavecor drivers, Kii use Peerless woofers and Seas tweeters which are all fairly low cost driver options compared to some more expensive brands out there e.g. Purifi.

Take the PresentDayProductions MUM-10 monitor using SOTA Purifi & Bliesma drivers and compare it to the Genelec 8351b available at a similar price. Although the MUM10 uses significantly more expensive components than the Genelec it appears to not come close to the Genelec in terms of overall performance (linearity on and off axis, distortion, bass performance etc). Although the Genelec uses much cheaper drivers, the overall performance is better because the implementation is better.

To be clear D&D uses Seas and Wavecor, not Dayton.

Okay....why?
Idk how accurate their spec sheets are, but they do seem capable of making quite a flat response with minor, narrow breakup then dropoff. Should make for an easy crossover with notch

The real irony is that I'm being criticized for discussing a topic on a forum
Last I knew, the entire point of a forum was to toss out questions, comments or ideas to then receive thoughts, input and responses from other users with a variety of perspectives. Typically those who declare such threads "meaningless" had nothing useful or constructive to contribute, yet couldn't miss an opportunity to hear the sound of their own voice.

More on topic..
I'd offer up Scan-Speak, Visaton, Seas, Accuton and BlieSMa as being among the top of the food-chain. There are a few other very niche specialist driver manufacturers but I've not seen the consistency of quality from them which I'd have hoped to.

Spot on! Implementation and the sum of all details in design and room acoustic.

Strangely no one mentioned ATC with their arguably best midrange dome.

Not even close to the midrange of the Genelec Ones series or Master series.

The ATC has been behind in development for many years. The purity and accuracy of the midrange are more realistic and sound more authentic in the Genelecs. In other words, they are significantly better than in the ATC.

The ATC is certainly good, but definitely not enough.

All Genelec main monitors depend on DSP to operate correctly. ATC can function with passive crossover. So they are more like comparing apples to oranges.

The room determines the basic starting points of all sound reproduction. Most people often start with spaces that are too echoey and don't always understand anything about acoustics like a pig with a gold ring in its snout. DSP room repair is today, and corrects the accents that millions of different spaces often make the sound crusty/unwanted. Of course, a bad echo space, such as a studio, cannot be turned into a den of golden ears if the acoustics are already bad to begin with with the help of DSP.

ATC is completely dependent on the placement and the acoustics of the space, whether it is done in a good way and with high quality. In other words, it is a 100% lottery, and whether the end result is good. Today, in 2025, you won't ruin your space with your child's lack of understanding if you are a studio worker. Those problems must be taken seriously and solved if the productivity of the work and the result are valued by others than the studio owner/s.

As far as I know, Genelec does not manufacture any loudspeaker chassis itself.

I think Punkilde under Eastech probably makes one of the best tweeter. Their two tweeters in Voicecoil testbench shows really good directivity and distortion.

Wavecor makes the best subwoofer in the world. The 8.75 and 10.25 inch sub has one of the lowest distortion in Voicecoil testbench.

For full range, Peerless PLS830970 is the best. Somehow even lower distortion than it's big brothers.

It's an excellent driver. It's also unobtainium at this point. Easier to just use a Bliesma M74S and a decent size waveguide for similar effect.

This is the best dome mid range driver ever, high dynamics, low distortion, high SPL and because i listen 40+ years with pleasure to it. It's the center piece of my DIY speaker and hold up with all new stuff. It's the Dynaudio D54. p.s. it's all very subjective! Even doesn't need much EQ.
