Sometimes you are good bass player that's in Funk band that's not a famous band, but you make the band a happening band, a bass forward band, and the party a happening bass forward party. Need to be down to 30Hz to really appreciate.

And if you liked that one here's another that might be better

Many, many good choices here, so I'll add a more obscure one: Jon Camp of Renaissance. Here's an example. A well-played electric Rickenbacker goes quite well with a symphony orchestra, doesn't it?

Great responses, especially the videos! Always cool to discover new stuff you hadn’t heard before. Keep it going, bass heads:cool:

Cliff, Lemmy, Geezer, Araya, Hill, Waters, Kim Deal, Jesse F. Keeler, Nick Oliveri, I can't remember the rest. oh yeah, The Bass Player for Bauahus. etc.

My bass guitar is over 30 years old and I got in two parts with the guts ripped out, in wrecked old house that we burnt down at a flat destruction party, it's a P Bass clone that I have never been able to ID. I named it The Riot. So far it still works. I had to strip the fret board off to stop the truss from rattling... with a carbon steel skinning knife. Take it to a luthier ? are you crazy . It's still doing ok with the cheapest EMG pickup I could get. I need to make a copy of it... heh. It's black. It was an unloved orphan that was abused by the previous owners. I love it, it has a forever home here.

I started playing bass when I started to find guitars just too small, too fiddly and just not made for really really going to town with a 1mm black nylon Jim Dunlop pick. Young, pumped and playing thrash hardcore while under the influence...

A few to add, these guys have always stood out to me and fit in well with the topic.
Chris Wood
Jimbo Wallace (Reverend Horton Heat)
Sebastian Steinberg (Soul Coughing)
Larry Graham
Bootsy Collins
