From what I have read, these amps have a baked in design flaw that causes a crackling noise after some years of operation. A subassembly replacement takes care of the problem without having to worry about shipping and if ASR really has any sway some members here are industry participants who can get the boards at (near) cost or better yet gratis since ML knew about the problem from day one and still ignored it.
Having said that, I don't understand why Amir's relationship with Harman appears to be so meaningless that he is forced to deal with a third party instead of getting parts direct at wholesale from Harman unless they are even bigger pricks than I imagined or there is more to their relationship than what appears obvious to me.
There certainly must be something to be done about it.
