i have a 2.1 av speaker setup:jbl 4309 as front L/R with mca 225 gen2 power amp drivering, the mrx740 as av pre amp, plus mk v12+ as subwoofer

i am wondering if a pair of genelc 8341a compete with 2.1 jbl system, who will be better for deep bass two channel audio.

should i spend extra money for 8341a or enjoy the jbl with mk subwoofer?

Without a subwoofer, the Genelec 8341 won't stand a chance in bass.

Keeping the sub and only replacing the jbl speakers with the genelecs would be an upgrade. However, I'm not sure how audible that would be post room correction, at a midfield distance, and in a typical untreated room.

the 8341a does not compete with a (competent) subwoofer, no
how about really expensive 12in bass speaker jbl 4349
or floor standing speaker JBL LS 80

The front L/R managed to produce the main sound effect and it would be sad if passive bookshelf speaker can have deep bass as subwoofer.
