When 12 Gauge Wire is Not 12 Gauge

I caved and just went with Blue Jean #10 cable with welded plugs...I guess it is the monoprice of high end cables...One of my runs is ~20ft and other is 3-4 ft. so I figured for peace of mind just buy these and keep damping above 50 for both runs even at 3.1ohm that my speakers can dip down to. At some point I'll prolly buy the cheap monoprice 12AWG cable and see if there is performance difference. My speculation is that it will not be audible.
Think Belden supplies for Blue Jeans

No longer in 10, They're sourcing the latest twin lead from somewhere else, still great stuff I'm sure.
"(If you're looking for Belden 5T00UP, gray 10 AWG cable, we've stopped carrying that, but our Ten White is equal or superior to it in all respects.)"

As long as it's not CCA (copper clad aluminium) and is actually all copper wire, no problems... copper wire is copper wire, no need for fancy brands. What you linked appears to be copper wire, so all good, go for that or similar.

JSmith
CCA does nothing but requiring you to choose one size bigger for the same characteristics. No problems.

Of course then the price advantage, that was never big to begin with, vanishes. So indeed you can just get copper instead.

Note that much speaker cable is made by the major industrial wire manufactures. Then they add the audio company's brand. Industrial manufactures make a lot of NEC/UL cable. NEC/UL cable is very tight tolerance wire. If it's labeled 12AWG then it is 12AWG. Cables manufactured be audio companies are not held to any tolerance.

Thanks I forgot to look

I did snag some Belden 10 off Take Five Audio.(why do I do these things)
For fun: swapped back and forth between Belden 12 and Belden 10 can't hear any audible difference
Tried with the Belden 14 swapping between it and Belden 10 and again can't tell difference

I guess no surprise at that thou really
the lengths r about 7.75M

The poor audio community doesn't get any respect
