I agree, and all flights should be banned.

Looks like Carnival's Grand Princess is going to be another Diamond Princess. 46 people tested, 21 positive, 1 inconclusive and 24 negative. Of the 21 positives, 19 were crew, 2 were passengers. 2,422 guests and 1,111 crew members on board.

21 test positive for coronavirus on California cruise ship

Gets old...

Look amigo, just let go. If you don't like it ...
Discuss the post content if you have something positive to say, and not the poster with that negative comment. Ty very much.

Taiwan:
How Taiwan Used Big Data, Transparency and a Central Command to Protect Its People from Coronavirus (standord.edu)

Worth a read to understand how Taiwan (population of 23 million) is handling the outbreak.
They implemented 124 action steps (pdf) to protect the health of their citizens.

It's impressive how fast Taiwan responded:
So when the WHO was notified on Dec. 31, 2019, of a pneumonia of unknown cause in Wuhan, China, Taiwanese officials began to board planes and assess passengers on direct flights from Wuhan for fever and pneumonia symptoms before passengers could deplane.
That means on the same day that WHO notified the world, Taiwanese officials started screening potentially ill people. Wow.

I'll admit that Canada has a loooooong way to go.
As you can see, Taiwan is adding ~2 cases per day. 2 new cases/day for a population of 23 million is shocking.

This thread is going off course, it's a information resource as iv explained I don't want politically motivated distractions.

Thread ban issued to @North_Sky ( permanent) and @g29 (3 days )
All the ' anti MSM ' right wing left wing stuff has to stop. Same goes for China bashing and America bashing ...

it just derails the thread.please focus on Information, local updates etc.

thanks

Its surprising that nobody has published any conclusive study on its full range of transmission modes and how persistent is it in non-host environments to date. (or has there been one?)

It's new.

Takes time to collect data and perform research.

They're working on it.

"A torrent of data is being released daily by preprint servers that didn’t even exist a decade ago, then dissected on platforms such as Slack and Twitter, and in the media, before formal peer review begins. Journal staffers are working overtime to get manuscripts reviewed, edited, and published at record speeds. The venerable New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) posted one COVID-19 paper within 48 hours of submission. Viral genomes posted on a platform named GISAID, more than 200 so far, are analyzed instantaneously by a phalanx of evolutionary biologists who share their phylogenetic trees in preprints and on social media.

“This is a very different experience from any outbreak that I’ve been a part of,” says epidemiologist Marc Lipsitch of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. The intense communication has catalyzed an unusual level of collaboration among scientists that, combined with scientific advances, has enabled research to move faster than during any previous outbreak. “An unprecedented amount of knowledge has been generated in 6 weeks,” says Jeremy Farrar, head of the Wellcome Trust."

It looks like in Washington we are transitioning to just treating this as endemic. Not sure what this means more generally, but could be we stop canceling things and return to normal life. If you’re at risk of serious illness, good luck.
