What were your first albums and what do you think of them today?

My first cassette tape was Bruce Springsteen -Born in the USA.

My first record was The Police - Zenyatta Mondatta.

First CD was Gwar - Hell-o!

I still love them all though I don't have them in that format anymore.

My 6th birthday in 1990, Aerosmith Classics Live. My parents got it for me along with a Walkman. Like many here it holds a special place in my heart. The first album I bought myself was Green Day Dookie a few years later.

Definitely! I remember leaving one of their shows at I think the Palladium and we were covered head to toe in green, red, and yellow from the stage blood. People would scream GWAR as they drove past us also covered in blood. An absolute blast.

First album I had for myself was probably Michael Jackson Thriller. I got it for Christmas from my parents. I had then listened to my fathers MJ Bad album on LP and Dangerous on CD alot, also Bad on tape copy. I remember I did not believe it was an MJ album cause I had only known the "white" one lol.

As it goes, Thriller album is without doubt one of the most successful albums out there. And yes, despite MJ controversy I still love it.

I always try to separate entertainers from their work. Otherwise we would probably hate everyone and everything.

The first album I bought for myself was the original The Monkees, in 1966. I was 9 years old. I still love The Monkees!

Got a summer job when I was 12 and with some birthday money went out and bought my first system, a used Technics amp and Castle Kendal speakers (Still have them and they are "decent"!) and a brand new Amstrad turntable (Should hang my head in shame but I doubt any system I've had since bought as much joy as this setup) With the money I had left I bought the first 4 Led Zep albums, Machine Head and In Rock from Deep Purple, Bridge over troubled waters by S&G and Sticky Fingers with the zip in the cover by the Stones. So many hours of happy listening and funnily enough they are amongst the most listened to albums to this day although the original vinyls which are still mint are safely in storage.
