What Speakers Would You Like Amir To Measure Next?

Concur. I'm up to buy a pair and ship in for review.

Might be tricky to choose which one to test, it's a big line up:

ModelPriceSize (in)DriversClaimed FRClaimed SNRPower RMS (Peak)
Creative Pebble$254.8 x 4.5 x 4.52″ Full-range + PR100 - 17,000 Hz86 dB4.4W
Creative Pebble V2$334.5 x 4.8 x 4.52″ Full-range + PR100 - 17,000 Hz75 dB8W (16W)
Creative Pebble V3$404.8 x 4.7 x 4.62.25″ Full-range + PR100 - 17,000 Hz75 dB8W (16W)
Creative Pebble Pro$654.84 x 4.84 x 4.652.25″ Full-range + PR80–20,000 Hz≥ 75 dB30W (60W)
Creative Pebble X$905.49 x 5.2 x 5.352.75″ Full-range + PR60–20,000 Hz> 93dB30W (60W)
Creative Pebble Nova$2405.87 x 5.94 x 6.02"Coaxial 3" + 1" + PR55Hz - 20,000Hz93dB50W (100 W)

Connectivity varies by model. Everything has USB-C, some add 1/8" aux inputs or Bluetooth. Some models have lower rated power when powered by USB bus vs a dedicated USB PD Adapter, I've listed the highest power available. Some models feature RGBLED lights, better bluetooth, and different stand options.

Personally, here's my priority for reviews:
  1. Creative Pebble Nova: unique form factor competing with 3-4" powered monitors (e.g. Adam Audio D3V, iLoud Micro Monitor, Kali UNF).
  2. Creative Pebble X: biggest drivers you can get in the lineup below $100/pair
  3. Creative Pebble V2: basically the original but with twice the power, which is obviously worth the $8 over the original.
That said you can buy the entire lineup for $500, so I'd be willing to buy one of each for testing.

It was surpyringing hard to find the details for the Nova. The rest of the lineup has full tech specs on the creative site, but I had to look further afield for the Nova. It's obviously trying to be "The high end one" so you can feel superior to your friends with the "normal ones." I doubt it performs 2.7x better than the Pebble X... but then again it's the only model in the range with a coaxial driver instead of a single full range.

Creative also has a range of DAC/headphone amps. They offer the Sound Blaster X5 solo for $280 or as a bundle with the Nova for $480. Could be interesting to test that, but I don't care enough to buy one. To me the whole point of the Pebble line is the direct USB connection to your computer. Once you start thinking about dedicated DACs, it's a whole new game and 10x the spend.
I think the V2 or original. It would be interesting to see how low cost products are doing.

I sent in a headset that comes with a USB-C dac for measuring a few months back, I'm hoping we get two reviews from it, one for the DAC and one for the headset.

For what it’s worth :

I have Pebble Pro and I just purchased those mysterious Pebble Nova.

Pebble Pro is amazing, a real pleasure for casual YT listening, small form factor, usb-c and BT input, very handy front volume knob and buttons etc, but huge lack of bass and high mids too strong. Love it, but it’s too far from decent audio listening.

Pebble Nova is a completely different speaker, much bigger, heavier. Serious. I’m overall very satisfied - it’s worth the price jump IMO (got it for 210€ vs 60€ Pro). Clear and dry bass (thanks to the close & spherical enclosure), same very rich and detailed mids and excellent dispersion, truly balanced sound after setting the buit-in EQ. I find myself spending hours rediscovering my albums just because it’s a real pleasure.
Personal cons : slightly too large below my display + touch-control buttons less handy than Pebble Pro front panel.

Since Nova comes with a buit-in EQ, I also realized how important is the EQ in such behind-the-monitor near-field setup (using HouseCurve for measurement on top of my ears on well known tracks).

Now that I got this, I’d be curious to check Pebble X because it has a buit-in EQ too and a 2.75’ speaker (vs 3’ for Nova). The ES could help flattening the curve and reach a decent audio performance while being way cheaper and slightly smaller than Nova. Saying « could » because it’s still unlikely to get a flat response curve with a single (and cheap) loudspeaker. But it’s worth trying IMO, considering the price diff.

I might purchase it when there is a good discount, just for testing.

Unfortunately I don’t have serious audio measurement tool so I can’t help more than this subjective comment.
Thanks for the insight on these products.

ah, that’s interesting. Somehow I missed that the upper two options have integrated EQ. That’s a really big deal for the class, and makes these a much more serious alternative to the Micro Monitors.

Yes it brings a lot of versatility. I find myself changing EQ preset quite often. For example I remove bass and raise treble during video calls, which brings a soft and pleasant sound for long remote meetings. For boomy/electro music I mitigate bass (=> still the feeling of deep bass but no vibration on my desk). For classical/acoustic music and mixing/mastering I use the flattened curve.

The EQ has 10 bands from 31.25 to 16K (x2 each - 31.25Hz is useless). There is no vertical/dB figures, but it’s ok by ears or using HouseCurve.

If you're going to check out the Pebble X, maybe try the Pebble X Plus which adds a powered sub.

Thank you so much, so much for posting this! Is it available worldwide? I'd like strongly recommend it to some local audiophiliacs.

Why? Because of the dreadful measured performance, or the visible ringing in the 3D printer they used? At that price I'd expect both better performance and a better surface finish.

Perlisten. Not easy to get your hands on it, it's expensive.

Perhaps look
Yeah, and that's exactly why. It's ****ing sarcasm. There are some guys here who deserve it.
By the way, is Chesky Audio affiliated with Chesky Records?))..

My gratitude to Marin is completely devoid of sarcasm; I didn’t know about this wonderful, beautiful, marvelous:p speaker!

Hey Bro :)
Yes this is his son, no less than a future acoustic engineer:oops:
His father is a good sound engineer.
But his son apparently decided to sell and manufacture some of the "best snake oil in the industry."
Here are some features of his product
-High-end audiophile internal wiring
-Passive Hardwired silver soldered precision crossover with High Quality film capacitors
And his famous "tessellation diffraction control technology"
I still don't get it how he managed that reflections have more SPL then direct sound:eek:
But as long he has a few old farts on the You Tube he will be just fine.

How about the new SVS 3000 micro 9" dual subwoofer? Any interest?
