What Speakers Would You Like Amir To Measure Next?

Altec Lansing Stonehenge III - Some Vintage-Lovers are claiming, the 15 inch- Bass Driver with the coaxially mounted Sectoral Horn and Compression Driver (Model 604-8G) is besides from some exotic Western Electric Constructions of the late 1920´s early 1930´s the best speaker you can get. The Beatles mixed their Abbey Road Album with kind of four of this speakers (Model 605A -one speaker for each Beatle! ;) https://propstoreauction.com/lot-details/index/catalog/318/lot/95311):

Such a beautyful work! Congratulation!
Every time I visit my friend Peter in Cologne who has even larger 604 Speakes with 300 liters of volume, I ask myself, what we have learned in the last 70, 80, 90 years!
To my ears -these vintage speakers sound more immersive, more intense, simply better than todays speakers.
Perhaps it has something to do with the extremely high efficiency of these old constructions: Western Electric, Siemens Klangfilm, Altec Lansing, Tannoy, ElectroVoice….you name it.

You only need a single watt of power and you can bulge your apartment from the inside! ;-)

Kind of ironic to post this right after the Altecs but maybe the new Kanto ORA 4 once they are more widely available?

Yeah! Unbelievable good value! Is the sub $ 4 price for a pair or a single speaker?
Anyway: I am in! ;)

If you are searching for an increadible speaker for your desktop, I can strongly recommend the
Magnat Monitor Active 2000 (EUR 240,—/ pair)

There is also a version out there with hdmi for about EUR 300,—/ pair

These speakers are developed by using the Klippel System.

I Purchased one pair for my son, 18 month ago, and struggled to give them to him for his desktop, because they were so overwhelmingly good, that I used them 6 weeks for testing and testing and testing…..
My heard really bleeds at the moment I handed them over.
It’s real HiFi!
Once the guy with the Altec / Single Ended Tubes System (Peter) visits me and hence his HiFi system is so much better than mine, he normally can’t stand to listen more than 5 or 10 minutes with my speakers…..
At the day when I included the Monitor Active 3000 into my system he visits me, and we listend to this speakers from 7.30 pm to midnight!
There can’t be a bigger compliment. BBC LS 5/3 Killer!
Hope, you live in Europe!

+1 vote for Q11 Meta.

Seeing as there is already a review of the R11 Meta, a comparison to the Q11 Meta would be very interesting. I'm hoping they are a poor man's R11.

They were among the best monitors you would get at that time, yes, but a lot of progress has been made since Abbey Road. I like much this album, I find the sound pretty good for a 1969 pop/rock album, but nowadays you can get much better tools for recording, mixing, mastering, post production.

Ok, these tools are not always properly used, or too often in a too spectacular way (this silly and awful "loudness war" is now raging, among other stupid trends). So yes, the sound engineers and the audio industry ethics and intelligence are not better overall and often worse now, but the blame has not to be put on the technology, but on the involved people themselves.

The mikes, the mixers, the amplfiers, recorders or computerzed recording and mixing tools, and of course the monitoring and mastering speakers, are definitely better now than they used to be in 1969.
