What Speakers Would You Like Amir To Measure Next?

Speaking of Cabasse, the Rialto would be nice.

Active
Coaxial
with rear firing woofer

Coax is a wild one too, it seems like it pointing outwards. That should do interesting things to directivity.

If I remember well Amir saw them at an audio show, ask a representative for a pair to test but nothing followed.
It's regarded as a prestigious and innovative brand in France, I'd really love to see their stuff put to the test.

Perhaps it is possible to make contact with Cabasse via a dealer - who then can ask for an o.k. in France.
The larger the Cabasse Speaker is, the more I would be interested in a full-scale test!
As long as these speakers did not turn up on www.spinorama.org - I go with conventional designs. :(

Any speaker, we have been inundated with DACs and Headphones. As a speaker guy who does not own a stand alone DAC, it is ok to read but doesn't get me excited reading about DACs. Speakers, I can get all worked up and enjoy all the comments! Fun!

Which model? The Strada 2 is at least very nice looking!
A'DIVA SE or Strada 2

TR-3D sudwoofer

I have the A-Diva SE Left, Right and surrounds and Reference Center speakers.
Don't have the Gallo subwoofer though.

Family member has the Strada and Strada 2 Center channel surround system.

Fantastic surround system.

These are evolution from the original Sub-Sat system.
M&K S1-B bookshelf + V2B subwoofer system, a first as far as I know.

Someone should send in their M&K sub-sat system.

Notice Genelec subwoofer has the same cylindrical design as Anthony Gallo's subwoofer.

I have not seen any reviews of Debut 3.0 // DF63-BK Floorstand. There are plenty of Debut 3.0 // DB63-BK Bookshelf reviews on youtube and in web. And since the bookshelf version has got quite good feedback, I would like to see how the floorstand version performs.

Probably an active ATC but I guess the likelihood of this is relatively small.

Kef Q7 Meta !

How about something common in the youths market. This is JBLs largest 'PartyBox.' MSRP $1700, currently on sale for $1000. The PartyBox line has at least 6 models down to ~$400.

Contains: two 2-3/4" tweeters; two 4-1/2" midrange drivers, angled to spread out the sound; two 9" woofers; 1100 watts of amplification. Weighs 88 lbs/39.5 kg, has wheels and a handle to pull. 42-inches tall and 18-inches square. Two can be connected wirelessly for stereo use. An app controls all. This is like a Revel F208, with more drivers, amplified and on wheels.

Essentially Bluetooth and Wi-Fi only, but there is a USB port for a thumb drive with music files. Airplay, Chromecast, most music services available.

Two 1/4" inputs let you connect two microphones, or use one for a guitar. Both inputs have independent volume and gain controls. So more for karaoke-like uses than an analog audio input.

If this had a USB and a SPDIF input it could replace home audio for many folks. Plug in a streamer and your TV and who needs a multi-box system? Plus, the unit is splash-proof and speakers are behind metal grills to be child and cat-proof. And we wonder why the traditional home audio market dwindles...

That's indeed impressive. maybe not very refined and neutral but if you connect it to a computer or a smarphone on which you have downloaded an EQ, that could be pretty good for the money.

In the same type of youth market audio, a new french little start up, Nox Music, launches the NOX-160 : 500€, SPL 114 dB SPL, good drivers sourced from SB Acoustics. Can be used in stereo with two speakers

These products are too quickly dispised by seasoned audiophiles. IMO they should be taken into consideration for people on a budget who like "big sound not bad".

The PartyBox market is quite active. Some are battery-powered, and some are backpack-ready for portability. These ain't old-school boom-boxes... I wonder what this market looks like on AliExpress?

SoundBoks Explorer Pack 4, 16 kg/36 lbs, battery-powered (6 hours at full volume), ~$1200:
  • 3 × 72W RMS Infineon MERUS Audio eximo® class D amplifiers
  • Next generation adaptive DSP with proprietary Bass Enhancer
  • Effective frequency range: 40 Hz - 20 kHz
  • 126 dB max volume
  • Pulse Reflex port
  • 2 × 10” 96 dB / 1W / 1m woofers and 1 × 1” 104 dB/ 1W / 1m compression driver tweeter

I know that won't happen, but the Cabasse The Pearl Pelegrina. 3400W RMS X 2. You've read well. 137 dB. They go down to 10Hz. Yes. Oh and 30 000€ of course.

Damn that's impressive if true. Kinda hard to believe, tbh, but then again 3400W is a lot of power. If Amir or Erin ever do test this thing, they'd have to test it well beyond the typical 96db or 102db tests that they normally do. 96dB would be a cake walk.

For comparison, the most spl capable speaker I've heard is probably the JTR 215 RT; 10Hz and 137db is 8Hz lower(unless that's an in room spec) and 6db louder than the JTR 215 RT, which is a ported 6 foot tall, 240lb speaker with a giant horn and 2 15" woofers.

Yeah clearly the bass won't hold long above 100 dB, the enclosure and the woofers aren't big enough, they label them as ''high excursion low distorsion woofers'' but there are physical limitations still. The specs are on their site, we have yet to see them verified.

Believe me these are very good speakers and they go low and way above 100 dB.They are bigger than it seems (the other connected cabasse speakers, including the PEARL and the PEARL IKOYA, are good too, but of course they can't go very low nor very loud.

As for the flagship Pelegrina, I admit that the specs are way too much optimistic. : as good as they are 137 dB and 10 hz are obviously out of reach. Anyway, such claimed "performances" are quite useles in real conditions.

It' a shame that Cabasse, which is one of the longest time most respected brand in France, has published such excessive specs for obscure marketing reasons.
Quite frankly, their speakers are much worth an audition and they don't need at all such marketing bullshit.

I listened to the Pearl, the smaller Pearl Akoya and they are IMO among the best connected speakers existing I had also a brief listen to the flagship Pearl Pelegrina in stereo pair and I found them quite impressive (but certainly not low as 10 hz nor as loud as 137 dB - fortunately for my ears and audtion).

MBL 101 X-Treme :)

(how would one go about even getting proper measurements of such speakers?)
