What speakers do you currently own?

Living room ATC SCM40 v2
rave cave/dojo/gym Subzero PA system (great fun by the way)
in hiding celestion 332s

1. Living Room: JBL Northridge E Series 7.1 (E90 - EC25 - E10 - E250P)
2. Office 7.0: Polk S20 - Epos M8i - Epos M5 - SVS Prime Elevation
3. Car: Custom setup all SB Acoustic

Main listening room - Caintuck open baffles with Lii Audio F15 full range drivers and a KEF KC62 sub
Office desktop - Focal Alpha 50 powered monitors
Office listening area - KEF LS50 Metas
That open baffle and KEF kc62 combo sounds interesting indeed!

Speakers currently in use...
Scott 166 (mid 80s) with 6.5" woofer and Philips dome tweeter.
Two way kit speakers built in Celestion Ditton 110 cabinets. Peerless 8" woofer. Philips clone tweeter. Originally came with some Peerless dome tweeters but I swapped them out.

Speakers currently not in use...
My original Speakerlab 1's that I bought in 1980. Capacitors were updated some years ago. 8" woofer with Philips tweeter.
Celestion Ditton 110s with swapped drivers. Allison woofer and M&K (Vifa) tweeter. Working on swapping in some crossovers with updated capacitors.
Both of these speakers were previously run together at the same time, stacked. Sounded good that way.

The Scott 166 speakers get used to listen to music in the bedroom. The other speakers (two way kit) are used pretty much just for TV sound now, although I also do have a CD player hooked up to that amp as well. Two amps running two sets of speakers in the bedroom...

Serious speaker envy :) Some lovely kit here.

Fyne F301 as 'main'.
Don't measure well but I like something about the sound, especially for vocals.

Genelec 8030C in the office. A revelation! I'd love another pair but the WAF is badly against them. Much better than the Fynes'.

I have one listening room and I rotate between 4 pairs of speakers (will eventually sell 2 and keep only 2). A mix of some that measure well and some that measure not so well:

MoFi Sourcepoint 8
KLH Model 5
Triangle Genese Trio
Magnepan LRS

Amps I have (one that measures well and others probably not so well):

Hypex NCore NC252MP by Audiophonics
Denon PMA-2000IVR
Musical Fidelity A1 (2023)

MEDIA ROOM
Revel F206
Polk 65-RT
Polk 70-RT
SVS SB2000

OFFICE
KEF R3

LIVING ROOM
KEF Q100

Whoah! Another member with "speaker fever!" *clinks a beer*

Interesting line up there, sounds like a fun roster of speakers. (And it's interesting seeing others here who have more than one set of speakers).

At one point I was just hoarding too many speakers. I'm going to lay out the models of speakers I had at one time in the house, before I came to my senses (and needed money) and sold most of them. As usual, as I enjoy gear photos and I think others do too, I'll illustrate my nutty journey. These are only a handful of the speakers I've actually owned. Rather, they are just the ones I happened to own all at once, and it was great fun comparing all of them in my room...

Thiel's flagship 3.7:

TESTED: Thiel CS3.7 Loudspeaker

Though they were probably the best overall speaker I ever had in my room, they were too large aesthetically and ergonomically, so I grabbed a pair of their follow up speaker, the CS 2.7, which used the same "flat corrugated" coax mids, but was a slightly smaller floor stander. I had them both at the same time for about a year at least trying to figure out which one I'd keep. Ultimately I kept the 2.7s as they gave me enough of the 3.7s in a smaller form.

Thiel CS 2.7:

At some point I also had a gorgeous rosewood pair of Harbeth Super HL5+ speakers that I loved. (Was deciding whether to replace my big Thiel 3.7s with the smaller Thiels or the Harbeths, and decided I liked the Thiels better overall). Harbeth Super HL5+ (my pair):

At the same time I also had the MBL 121 Radialstrahler omnis (this is my actual pair, a photo from when I was selling them):

MBL 121 Radialstrahler - Omni Stand Mounts - Unique Oportunity Price! For Sale - Canuck Audio Mart
618 × 825

I also had the old Waveform Mach MC monitors - some audiophiles may recognize these as basically the top of the Waveform Mach 17 speakers. Those "eggs" were incredibly inert and designed for smooth dispersion and MAN did they disappear and image like mad! (My pair):

I also had, and still own, a pair of Spendor S 3/5 classic monitors in a beautiful Bird's Eye Maple finish, like this pair:

fhypiwxo4fk2cz3za5d5.jpg
xidjc9zmfkd69pitwrdh.jpg

And then there are my Hales Transcendence 1 stand mount speakers. Paul Hales was a fantastic speaker designer, his speakers sound so smooth on or off axis, with wonderful timbral purity for voices and instruments. I owned the floor standing Hales Transcendence 5s but sold them to a friend and couldn't get the sound out of my head so I bought these monitors, which were for quite a while my 2 channel monitors.:

2kHSo6f__16437.1527883267.jpg

But when I decided to turn my listening room in to a projection-based home theater (and 2 channel room) I used the Hales T1s as my L/R and added the spectacular (and rare as hens teeth) Hales Transcendence Cinema center channel. The thing is a beast! But the match with the T1s is made in heaven. And I found I didn't even need a sub (not mine) (mine is in the same Pau Ferro finish as the one standing up on it's end):

2982547-a00a07b7-hales-design-group-transcendence-cinema-center-chanel.jpg

Since I'd gotten in to home theater big time my 2 channel lust waned a bit, so I was using the Hales T1 monitors still as my 2 channel listening as well. The T1s were near the room corner beside the projection screen for home theater duty, but when I wanted to listen to 2 channel I'd pull them out in to the room to the "listening triangle" and hook them up to the alternatve speaker wires that led back to my tube amplification. Yeah, nutty audiophile stuff.

Finally, while having all those in the house I also had - and still own - one of my favourite all time speakers, the cheapo Thiel 02 speakers, circa late 70's/early 80s. They were my wife's speakers when I met her, picked out for her long ago by her audiophile dad and brother. I can't get rid of these, and still throw them in to my system because they have this special combo of smoothness, timbral "rightness" and palpability. Every time I put them in I question whether I need anything more (not my pair):

821185-ae5b8619-thiel-model-02-speakers.jpg

I still miss the MBL and the Waveform speakers! But certainly love my current Joseph Audio speakers. I get to switch them up with the Thiel 2.7s as I want, or throw in the Spendors or the old Thiel 02s. That's enough for me to experience the variety I enjoy at this point.

I too like having a bunch of options around the house just to mix it up from time to time. I like having very different designs. In your situation, I might have traded the Thiels out for the Josephs and kept the MBLs, just because they’re more different(even if I like them slightly less).

Every single one of those speakers are lovely!!!! Wow....and I thought I've been on a speaker journey! Great history!

I too like having a bunch of options around the house just to mix it up from time to time. I like having very different designs. In your situation, I might have traded the Thiels out for the Josephs and kept the MBLs, just because they’re more different(even if I like them slightly less).

I went on a massive speaker auditioning binge to replace the bigger Thiel 3.7s. I saw a killer deal on some second hand smaller 2.7s and grabbed those to try, to see if I could be satisfied with the slight downscaling of sonic scale. Turned out I loved the 2.7s but it was also around the time I'd fallen for the Joseph Audio Perspective speakers, which were much more expensive. I wanted the JA speakers but didn't want to give up the Thiel sound I loved so much so, figured "why not both?" I kept the 2.7s, selling the bigger 3.7s helped cover that cost and left some money over for the JA speakers, but not enough. So I had to sell something and the MBLs were it. I'd had the MBLs for about 10 years. The Joseph speakers were actually the ones that sounded tonally and spatially morel like the MBLs than any other box speaker I've tried, so I felt I wasn't going to miss the MBLs too much. It was a good call. The MBLs btw were the fastest selling piece of gear I ever put up for sale. I set them at a low price and had something like 36 enthusiastic offers the same day.

Every single one of those speakers are lovely!!!! Wow....and I thought I've been on a speaker journey! Great history!

Cool! I've had a few "speaker fever" journey's in my time. When I do, I leave no stone unturned, auditioning everything I can find. I enjoy the process. It's pretty common for us folks on these forums to have owned plenty of different speakers.

I wish I would not have sole my Thiel speakers, I think they were the CS2s, MattHooper would know better.
