What speakers do you currently own?

If you are really interested, give it few more years, you will be able to find yourself a great deal on the used market.

I'm sure your right there. But as things stand I'm fully pleased with my 5 JBL 3600's bed setup and short of some catastrophe I'm hoping it will take me to the grave.
At 75 my hearing isn't very "golden" any more, if it ever was. Add in the fu-ked open floor plan room layout and I believe the only change I could make that would give me a real upgrade in sound quality would start with a new house, dedicated room, and that ain't happenin. LOL
After working with DRC, REW, etc; the integration with my 2 SVS SB-2000 subs and 4 SVS Prime Elevation overheads sounds quite linear and natural to me.
Most every evening when I throw on some high definition SOTA recording, the rig as it stands continues to amaze me with the listening experience it delivers.

I had mentioned rotting acoustic foam above.
This is not my photo, but this is exactly what happens to that foam over time.
My right speaker was worse than this and my left was about the same.

Not only does it rot, but it gets very compressed. I don't have the equipment or the know-how but I would have been interested to see if there are measurable changes after stripping off the old foam and replacing it with the F13 felt.

The felt is 1/4" less in width but it is 1/2" thick and I don't know what the foam thickness was. Mine was pretty flat.
Things seem to sound slightly improved in the first reflection department and the speakers look better.

I am still looking at Perlisten towers and subs.

Every member here that has them seems extremely happy with them.

We'll see what happens in the next year I suppose.

Gene DellaSalla proclaimed that the Perlisten S7t Limited Editions are the best speakers he's ever heard.

While I have yet to have the privilege to hear the S7t LE but I can say this: I have heard both the KEF Blade 1 and 2, while they have better bass extension from what I recalled, I prefer my Perlisten S7t by a smidgin, but once subs are added, the choice is clear for me.

My main room:
I have Dynaudio Confidence 20 with a Contour 25i Centre. Older Dynaudio Contour SR surrounds and 4 x Dyn s-c65 ceiling speakers. 2 x SvS SB2000pro subs.
Office room:
I am in the process of replacing some 9 year old Dynaudio BM mk3 Compact actives, that hum a bit! With some Ascilab F6Bs, from that Cowboy and alround Gangster, Keith from PURITE Audio. So using my Fosi ZA3 to drive them. I have a Dynaudio Sub 9s.

I guess I can update the thread a little to get up to current.

These were my 2nd set of "high end" speakers. I started with the NHT 2.9s. They are the little brother of these, the 3.3s. I liked the piano finish of the 2.9s but the 3.3s were just incredible. I always missed the piano finish though. I've had the 3.3s since 1999 and to this day, I'm happy with them. It was a big decision to upgrade to a newer set of speakers. NHT 3.3 speakers really do bass well. For the short time as a newbie on ASR, I quickly learned speakers are where the money should go. They seem to be the biggest difference makers in any system according to all I've read here.

I had mentioned earlier in this thread I was considering either Perlisten R7Ts or the S7Ts. I ended up getting an incredible deal on the Perlisten S7Ts from an audio dealership here that I have some history with. For those that are the observant types, you may notice a thinner line running in front of the fireplace. I decided to call it a day with the Transparent Musicwave Plus cables with the "magic" plastic boxes and got some very affordable Blue Jeans cables with the welded locking banana posts. The Transparents were demos and were thrown in with all of my Bryston gear and the NHT 3.3s way back. I knew nothing about cables back then, and I'm thankful that particular audio shop didn't totally push me down that road.

That said, I completely overdid it with the Blue Jeans. I ordered the 10 gauge cables, but the cables are still thinner than the ultra thick Transparents and I don't have those boxes getting in the way. The banana posts are also a lot nicer on the Blue Jeans.


If you've seen my other posts, these photos are nothing new other than the Blue Jeans.
As for the thread topic, the Perlisten S7Ts are my front line speakers now, and my NHT 3.3s are my backups.
