What speakers do you currently own?

this evening I reconnected to the Martin Logan Quests, after a taste of 4312. These are speakers that I have never been able to understand.
I have tried over and over again to move them, change amplifiers.... I have not yet managed to find a sound output that I like....
I am starting to think that something is not working correctly because when I hear people talking about them the tones are almost always enthusiastic.
Maybe I will try to change the room, perhaps in the small one they will be able to express their potential better.

Main setup (split system, switchable between stereo setup and Dolby Atmos):

Klipsch Heresy IVs for stereo and as the front speakers for Dolby Atmos. Klipsch R-26FA floor standing speakers that also include upfiring speakers for the rear speakers for Atmos. Klipsch center speaker (don't remember the model number). Klipsch active subwoofer.

Office setup:

Sony SSCS5 speakers with a Sony SACS9 active subwoofer.

Bedroom setup:

A pair of Amazon Echo Studios with an Echo sub.

Other:

At least one Amazon Echo Show, Echo Dot or Echo Spot in every room.

I've wanted to like Martin Logan electrostats for ages and have just never heard a pair that sounded right to me. And I like planar speakers -- had a pair of Magnepan 1.6qr's for several years until a move left me with an unsuitable room for them, and I've always like the Quads I've heard. But ML's? Nope. My opinion is they've never figured out a proper integration of the bass into the electrostatic panel. The crossover point is inevitably right in the middle of the critical fundamental range of many instruments, including voice. But, like many audio products, they have their devoted fans along with people like me, and apparently, you.

I had Martin Logan ESL 15A's that did a great job with woofer integration. They measured well after running the built in ARC. With that said, after years of trying many different models I gave up on Martin Logan. The sound became boring and the higher frequencies never did it for my tastes.

That's a good example that people can agree they don't care for a particular product, but do so for different reasons. It's a big world out there!

Same here. I’ve never heard a Martin Logan hybrid that sounded fully integrated.

I’ve heard a lot of of them, but not all of them, so I’m certainly not ruling out that they got it right somewhere.

Infinity Primus 250's. Bought used some years ago, set me back all of $30. I'm also using a Sonus Son of Sub powered subwoofer, that was $50, used. Listen to them nearfield. Very happy with the sound, listen mostly to CDs.

Thought I should post a photo of these budget marvels. Usually don't play them all that loud, very good for piano and chamber music in particular:

Martin Logan update.

Last night I decided to open the Quests to find out what was wrong: well, someone who had changed the panels had inverted two positive signal connections on the two crossovers, it was also marked in marker where they should have been connected!!!! in addition, he had not replaced a cable between two boards on a speaker.
That's why they didn't sound.
They were unlistenable. I've been using them since yesterday and they sound!!!
I confirm the difficulty of finding a suitable position that gives the woofer the chance to express itself decently, otherwise they seem like 4 speakers in the same room that struggle to find an agreement together.
They sound good even with a 55 watt integrated, used for tests after the repair. I was afraid of "blowing" my amplifier.
ML give them 90 dB as sensitivity and on the board they recommend an amplifier of 20 watts per channel and up.
The mid and high part are really "tasty".
Now I still have a few devices left to repair. I would like to do it myself, but unfortunately it's not always as easy as with the MLs...

I agree that the current generation end-fire arrays do a great job of integration. In retrospect I may have pushed harder for MLs in our formal living room. (Quads were just too wide when I mocked them up in the room.) They're inferior speakers to the Revel Gem2's...but there's also some virtue in variety.

Speaking of which, to update my previous post, due to some renovations we replaced the audio system in one room (Technics C700 + 2 custom closed box subs with Aurasound 10" drivers) with a pair of OG HomePods. (Long story short - new built-ins meant no room for gear, even a stack as minimal as as a Lyngdorf 1120 + Powersoft Mezzo 604 sub controller-amp.) Also, my grand plan to go 3.1 in a territory system was vetoed on aesthetic grounds. So the following three speakers are now going to complete for placement in one system.
-NHT C3 (incumbent)
-Technics C700 (internally displaced)
-Revel M126Be (challenger)
+the Aurasound subs.

There's alas no need to keep the other two sets around. I'm going to listen (after RoomPerfect setup) rather than prejudge. I guess that means there will be at least 1 M126Be for sale regardless, though, as I can't use all three...

That explains it! Great you found it.

One of my brother (and also my neighbor) have ML's and they sound great. They have them in totally different settings, my brother in a dedicated room where they are 3 feet from side walls and 4 from front wall; great sound but a bit shy on the bass but with such a great soundstage!

My neighbor has them on the living room, due to WAF they are almost on the corners, bass is pretty good and controlled since the room opens up to the rest of the house and there are no readily apparent modes in the listening area. Now imaging is not great.

Every time I plug them in (once a month I review speakers and electronics so they don't sit still for too long) I can't help but think that they are among the best speakers I've heard.

And I don't even understand why Infinity doesn't make more speakers like this.

They are simply beautiful, they have it all. Tone, clarity, bass, highs, mids, soundstage, depth.
They are huge and yet they disappear into the room.
It's hard to describe the joy they can convey to listening.
From the micro detail to the kick in the stomach of the bass, everything is so well blended and right…..
even used with just one amplifier instead of the two that should be used with their crossover, they sound enchanting….

I think they are among the "truest" speakers that my ear can remember….

Love the Epsilon! My main speakers are Beta. Fully restored late last year. Soon to be modified to a modern rendition of the EMIM (incoming!) and modern rendition of the LEMIM in development. All my drivers are perfect but I wanted to try and see what can be achieved 20 years later.

The only speaker that I would think about replacing my Whispers....I would need three of them though and additional amplification as they must be bi-amped.
