DiracLive runs up to 24/192. In order to use it with higher resolution sources, downsampling is necessary. The audible value of DL, especially below the critical frequency, greatly outweighs any potential compromise due to downsampling.

@Lambda what do you hope to gain by resampling?
As i said almost all DACs up sample those days the question is only do you do it consciously in software or do you let it happen in the "black box" that is your DAC.

Think about watching a DVD on a 4K TV the question is not do you upscale. but do you do it in the player/pc or do you let the TV do its thing.
one is not necessarily better or worse than the other.

That's a non-answer.

Do you have evidence that your equipment is doing something nefarious to your input signal? Otherwise, this just sounds like neuroses.

And one means can certainly be better or worse than another...

Well the question was invalid. I do it because it's necessary to play 44,1khz CDs on modern DACs.
And because i don't want to keep changing sample rates and have everything running trug JACK and DSP i up sample in software.

Depends on the implementation.

You keep repeating that upsampling is required to play 44.1kHz signals.
I am trying to understand what would prompt you to keep repeating that.

Show me a modern non over sampling dac with good performance.

You may be able to find one or two measured on this site.
It's not only the NOS aspect (done poorly), but the often neglected reconstruction filter that contributes to poor performance.
That much is true.

If your DAC is garbage, fix that, not the input signal...

And showed you evidence that the up sampling filter can make a difference.

I would not dispute the importance of the filter's role in up-sampling.
I asked you why you were up-sampling in the first place and why you thought it had some significant sonic benefit.

Why do you care if its effecting me personally?

I was however curious if you have a real problem to solve, or are just flailing around grasping at half-understood ideas.

Two answers: Upsampling/downsampling to 48kHz inside JRiver now since my convolution files are set to that... but in my other DAC (miniDSP) 96kHz with FIR.
 
Oh Lord, there goes all those beautiful extra highs you'd get from the 24/192 files. :facepalm:
